What people say
KURA - Robata & Sake is a must-visit Japanese restaurant and sake bar located on Lygon Street in Melbourne. The open kitchen and bar seating provide an immersive dining experience that is sure to delight all your senses. The menu features a variety of delicious dishes, including the 12-hour braised short ribs finished on the Robata, served with maple soy sauce, which is perfect for colder days. For entrees, we recommend trying the onion soy, radish, nasturtium, sesame oil dish that pairs well with some of their lighter and fresher sakes. Speaking of sakes, KURA offers an impressive selection of premium sakes from different regions in Japan. One of our favorites is the Mutusuo Tokoyama Chokara Junmai made by Hachinohe Shuzo brewery in Aomori prefecture. This clean style sake has subtle rice flavors and sweet melons that make it a perfect match for any dish on their menu. Lastly, don't forget to try their sweet potato shochu aged in sherry casks for more than seven years; it has a beautiful creamy mouthfeel and viscosity with notes of vanilla and soft sweetness that will leave you wanting more. Overall, KURA - Robata & Sake is a fantastic restaurant that offers excellent food and drinks in a cozy atmosphere that will make you feel right at home.
