ਅੱਜ (੧੫ ਨਵੰਬਰ ੨੦੨੫) ੩੦ ਕੱਤਕ, ੧੭੪੩ ਬਿਕਰਮੀ (੧੬੮੬ ਈ.) ਦਮਦਮੀ ਟਕਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਜਥੇਦਾਰ ਬਾਬਾ ਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਸ਼ਹੀਦੀ ਦਿਹਾੜਾ ਹੈ। ਬਾਬਾ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਪੰਥ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੋਈ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਕਾਂਸ਼ੀ ਦਮਦਮਾ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਵਿਖੇ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦੇ ਸਹੀ ਉਚਾਰਨ, ਕਥਾ, ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਲਿਖਣ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਹਿਤ (ਰਹਿਤ) ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦੇਣ ਲਈ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਸਨ। ੭੫ ਸਾਲ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਵਿਚ ਜਹਾਨ ਖਾਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਦੀ ਬੇਅਦਬੀ ਬਾਰੇ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਣ ‘ਤੇ, ਉਹ ਅਫਗਾਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਖੰਡਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉੱਠੇ। ਇੱਥੋਂ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਧੜ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਤੇ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਮਯੁਧ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕ ਸਕਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਅਫਗਾਨਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਫੋਜਾਂ ਕੰਬਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹਟਣ ਲੱਗ ਪਈਆਂ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਨੇ ਹੇਠ ਲਿਖੇ ਮੁਖਵਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕੀਤਾ:
