MR K Deli Cafe MR K Deli Cafe is a cosy coffee shop and restaurant located in Wandin North. They offer a menu with options to suit all tastes and budgets, including gluten-free options. The cafe/restaurant is open from Monday to Friday 6am-4pm and Saturday 7am-2pm, closed on Sundays. Good morning to all our wonderful customers, staff, friends and family 💕
A bitter sweet moment as I sit here at my desk on a Saturday morning.
We are announcing that we have sold our beautiful cafe!
Yes, it’s true. After 15 and a half years in this terrific community it’s time to hand over to new owners and new exciting beginnings.

Rod, Karli and I stepped into an empty shell in Feb 2008 and started to create and build the space you now know as “Mr K’s” !
We cannot thank everyone enough for all their help and support from right back at the beginning of this roller coaster ride in hospitality. Little did we know that the small coffee shop and cosy hub we wanted to create was become an iconic part of Wandin and of the Yarra Valley.

Thank you to Glenda and Ray for allowing us the opportunity to make that empty shell into something special. Not just a place to have coffee and a meal but, a place to meet and talk, a place to make new friendships, a place to feel safe and comfortable, a place where people will talk to you and listen when things are great or not so great. We’ve definitely had some robust conversations with our customers but, always with respect and understanding. Sometimes agree to disagree respectfully x

Thank you to the most amazing group of people we’ve had the pleasure to work with. We have seen young junior staff go on to grow and become amazing adults (some of you with families of your own ). Not just staff but, now friends and family. Yes, a few relationships have not ended well but, that is life and sometimes you just don’t see eye to eye. Apologies to anyone that I may have had disagreements with in the past.

Personally, a big thank you Rod, my amazing husband that followed me into this wild adventure. Rolled his eyes more than a few times when I said “I’ve got an idea!” It mean so much to have someone support you through thick and thin. I love him more than words can express!

And, Karli, our beautiful girl and the K in MR K’s.
A very young girl who who came along for the ride as a ten year old and literally grew up with the café. Yes, it was a big toll for a young kid but, she’s come through with flying colours and has grown into the most beautiful resilient adult and I am so very proud of her.

So, the next chapter begins next week with new owners. We will be helping out over the next couple of weeks to help transition . So please stop in to say hello. Thank you again to everyone for your love, support and journey over the past years xoxo 😊😊😊

To get to the cafe located on Union Road in Wandin North, you can either take public transportation or drive.

If you decide to take public transportation, the nearest train station is Lilydale Station, which is about a 20-minute drive away from the cafe. From there, you can take a bus or taxi to get to Union Road.

If you prefer driving, from Melbourne CBD, take the Eastern Freeway and then merge onto EastLink towards Ringwood. Continue on EastLink until it becomes the M3 and then follow signs for Maroondah Highway. After driving for approximately 14 kilometres along Maroondah Highway, turn left onto Union Road and continue for approximately one kilometre until you reach your destination.

Parking options include street parking along Union Road or finding a spot in the nearby parking lots of other businesses in the area.
