25/03/2026
25th of March is one of the most sacred and defining days for all Greeks
Today we celebrate the great religious feast of the Annunciation ,the day the Archangel Gabriel announced to the Virgin Mary that she would give birth to Christ. A day of faith, hope, and profound spiritual meaning.
At the same time, we honour the official beginning of the Greek War of Independence ,the moment Greece rose against the Ottoman Empire after over 400 years of occupation.
For centuries, Greeks endured oppression, hardship, and attempts to erase their identity, culture, and faith. Families were torn apart, children taken, and generations lived under a regime that sought to extinguish the Greek spirit.
After years of empty promises from European powers like United Kingdom, Russia, and France, the Greek people chose courage over fear ,standing up with limited weapons, limited training, but an unbreakable will.
Against overwhelming odds, against a powerful and well-trained force, a determined and united people fought back , not just for land, but for identity, freedom, and the future of their nation.
Today, we honour the heroes the men and women who stood tall, who sacrificed everything, and who made freedom possible.
To all the Evans and Angelas wishing you the happiest of Name Days. Īα ĻαίĻεĻĻε
Wherever Greeks go, we build, we contribute, and we carry with us a culture that has shaped the world.
I am proud to be Greek. Proud of our history. Proud of our ancestors. And proud of the strength and resilience that defines us.
Greece today we celebrate you
