Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes to bring you a memorable experience each time you visit Frankston RSL? The answer is investing in our people through training programs that provide staff with the opportunity to develop within their leadership roles and, most importantly, within themselves.
In 2025, Frankston RSL Sub-Branch launched the Ignite Leadership Program for 15 members of its leadership team, partnering with Business & Leadership Coach and Facilitator Jackie Booth to guide the journey. This year, a further 13 leadership team members commenced the program, undertaking a six-month professional development journey focused on building leadership awareness, clarity, and confidence.
The training program offers staff an engaging, informative,
energising, and a transformational journey to unlock their full potential.

Simon is a Sir Vincent Fairfax Fellow, former Homicide detective and corruption buster. He’s been bashed and threatened by bent cops and Gangland killers, carried a gun 24 hours a day, caught Top 10 most wanted and received multiple bravery awards.
Simon’s Police career was war. Corruption, criminals, Lawyer X. Eventually, he spoke out against a sick culture and quit the Force.
Simon finds trends and analyses crime.
In 2008, Simon analysed the Gangland killings and predicted the next murder in the Gangland War would be an ambush, on a Monday night, between 6pm and 9 pm, at close range, using a handgun while the victim entered or exited a car.
He was right.
In 2016 he wrote a Herald Sun opinion article telling the Government their new to***co tax increases will hand organized crime of hundreds of millions dollars, causing a turf war, arson, kidnapping and extortion.
He was right, again.
In 2020 he correctly predicted that a military trained sniper would be responsible for the long-range hit on Rebel’s outlaw motorcycle gang boss Nick Martin in West Australia.
Once a prolific keynote speaker, he’s knocked back every speech request for 7 years.
But he’s back, we welcome, Simon Illingworth.

Reducing social isolation among our veteran community remains a key priority, and our wellbeing team consistently excels at organising engaging and meaningful outings.
On Tuesday, 26 May, a group of 55 veterans and their partners—along with two service dogs—enjoyed a memorable trip aboard Puffing Billy. Laughter filled the air as passengers sat on the carriage railings, taking in the stunning scenery along the journey from Belgrave to Lakeside Station.
The day continued at the Upwey-Belgrave RSL, which opened exclusively for our group and provided a delightful two-course lunch. Many attendees then took the opportunity to visit the Running Rabbits Military Museum located at the RSL, where knowledgeable volunteers offered guided insights into the exhibits.
Following lunch, the group gathered for a photo on the verandah, but a sudden downpour quickly sent everyone hurrying back to the bus. Despite returning to the Frankston RSL a little wet, spirits remained high after a fantastic day filled with connection, camaraderie, and shared experiences.
All veterans and current serving service personnel, partners - including widows/widowers, and their carers are invited to the Frankston RSL wellbeing excursions. If you are a veteran or a family member interested in coming to the next excursion, please reach out to the Wellbeing Team on 0492 820 743.

What people say
Frankston RSL on Cranbourne Road in Melbourne is a social club that provides outstanding service, support, and enjoyment to all veterans and the community. The club has a vibrant atmosphere and offers various events and activities for its members. Recently, one lucky member won $2,000 at the Friday Member's Guaranteed Winner Draw, which was enjoyed by all members present. If you're not yet a member of Frankston RSL, their friendly reception team will be happy to explain all the benefits of becoming one.
The club also encourages volunteering from all age groups. During ANZAC Day Appeals, the grandkids of regular volunteers George and Di Barker managed to raise an impressive $38.50 through a bake-sale-stall. Isabelle and Archer, along with their cousins Eliza and Alex, prepared delicious Anzac biscuits and gluten-free brownies that were enthusiastically sold out. The little cherubs were recognized with appreciation certificates during the Frankston RSL's Volunteer Week luncheon.
Frankston RSL also hosts exciting events like Piano Men - the songs of Elton John and Billy Joel performed by Jason Dean and Superband. The event promises to be a fantastic night filled with great music that everyone can enjoy.
Overall, Frankston RSL is an excellent social club that provides exceptional service to its members while supporting the community in various ways.
