Mario at .fitzroy There’s a Dad joke in there somewhere…
Soaking up the sun (before it gets too hot), great vibes, cool tunes & mentally setting up for a busy but enjoyable long weekend.
On that subject - why can’t we change the date to celebrate being Australian away from a date that is tied to a land being forcibly taken over by foreigners?
I’m a proud Australian (1st generation Australian Italian) but I can’t / won’t celebrate “Australia Day” on Monday because the indigenous people of our country see it as a day of mourning, not a day to be celebrated.
Thoughts?

For nearly 13 years (a lucky number for us Italians) Mario & Team Sbriga have been slinging lattes, serving up scrumptious espressos and whipping up simple yet mouthwatering dishes. We’ve chatted about footy, politics and the grand mysteries of life. But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end – so it’s time to pass the baton (or perhaps a salami) to some new faces.
We always looked forward to celebrating the end of the workweek with family, friends and our wonderfully eclectic mix of loyal customers, sharing great banter over a drink or two.
To commemorate this milestone, we’re throwing a “last drinks” bash this Thursday, December 18th (that’s tonight!) at 4 PM. We’d be thrilled if you could join us for what promises to be a night filled with laughter, memories and maybe a few happy tears.
Of course, I’ll be wearing my favourite Hawaiian shirt because it just wouldn’t be the same without it.
A heartfelt thanks to everyone who made Sbriga a hub of community and connection – it has been an absolute pleasure to be a part of your lives.
Until we meet again, arrivederci!
Mario

What people say
Sbriga Espresso Bar, located on King Street in Melbourne, is a Roman-inspired cafe with a Melbourne soul. The bar offers a unique experience that combines the best of both worlds. Sbriga's Mulled Wine is a must-try for anyone looking to warm up during cold winters. This traditional drink was started by the Romans during the 2nd century AD and has been embraced by Europe as well. At Sbriga, they add oranges, cloves, cinnamon quills and star anise to warmed red wine to create their own version of this classic drink. The Chorizo Panino is another delicious offering from Sbriga. It features pan-fried super mild chorizo paired with antipasto, house-made olive tapenade, and roquette. The ingredients are sourced from the Mediterranean region, making it a perfect late harvest picnic tucked into Sbriga's popular panino. With its cozy atmosphere and delicious offerings, Sbriga Espresso Bar is the perfect spot for Friday night after-work drinks or weekend brunches with friends.
