Dear Valued Customers, Team Members & Suppliers, after 12 long years of Milk the Cow, we are heartbroken to have to let you know we are closing both our St Kilda and Carlton fromageries, effective immediately. The economic climate we have been operating in ever since the Covid shutdowns is proving too hard, and despite trying many different avenues to rectify things these past years, we have now been forced to make the difficult decision to enter the business into liquidation.
We opened in 2012 with such enthusiasm for hospitality and we loved being able to provide our customers with a unique dining experience and share our love of amazing cheese and boutique beverages. We are so grateful to all our customers who have supported us through the years, you are the whole reason we started Milk the Cow in the first place. To our staff who have joined us from all over the world to learn and share their cheese knowledge and provide great customer service, we thank you for being an irreplaceable part of the journey. And to our suppliers, thank you for working with us through thick and thin, we know many of you are fellow small family businesses who have been struggling alongside us through the past few years.
Unfortunately, as of today no future reservations will be able to be honoured. As we begin the process of liquidation, we ask for your patience and understanding while we navigate these next steps. In regards to any vouchers or subscriptions, we will be working with the liquidator on how to best deal with these and we will update anyone affected when we can.
We are truly sorry to anyone we have let down, this is the part that shatters us the most. We honestly tried our hardest for it to not come to this. We know how difficult current circumstances are for everyone, and we wish our industry colleagues and all other small businesses and their teams out there the very best of luck getting through it... Hopefully there are brighter days ahead.

Brie gets better when you bake it. We add pistachios, cranberry, honey, fig and bathe it in sparkling French wine and cognac. Un-Brie-lievably delicious.

Not much beats a fondue for the ultimate comfort food. We have three distinctly different ones including your classic Swiss recipe, a cheddar and beer one and our infamous Grundlegend - set with French sparkling wine and drizzled with Cognac… Available always at both fromageries.

Cheers to the weekend! Though she’s served in a perfectly elegant teacup, our Henrietta’s Blend cocktail still packs a punch - gin, rosé wine and creme de pêche make for a floral, fruity mouthful. Comes perfectly paired with St Maure French goat’s cheese.
