Did you know burn piles can smoulder underground for WEEKS? Especially around tree stumps and in tree roots. Local brigades have attended a number of reignited burn piles in the last week or two.
The photo is of our thermal imaging camera which we can use to seek hot spots in bushfire situations, structure fires as well as search and rescue.
Can you see the temperature reading in this photo? This was taken on a burn pile which had “looked” out AND was cool to touch on the surface. But dig in a little and it was 150C 🔥 😲
Please any time you have a fire ensure they are drenched in water and fully extinguished before you leave

To get to Warburton Highway in Seville, you can take the Lilydale train line to Lilydale station and then catch the local bus number 683 towards Warburton. Get off at the stop closest to Warburton Highway and walk to your destination.
If driving, take Maroondah highway towards Healesville and turn onto Warburton highway. Look for available street parking near your destination.
