A Halloween flavour - we can't be Melbourne's oldest building without a story of a ghost! Local heavyweight Sir Rupert Clarke, whose father Sir William John Clarke built the building, had a lover, Connie Waugh who unfortunately died in the vicinity. An urban myth, or have you seen Connie flitting about?

If only these walls could talk! As Melbourne's oldest pub The Mitre Tavern & Steakhouse has seen a lot in its History, including the last major pandemic, the Spanish flu of 1919. We miss seeing these tables filled but rest assured we will be here when the Victorian Government lockdown is over as we have been for Melbournians since 1837.
