Today is our dad’s 88th Birthday! We made this very special Black Forest Torte, one of his favourites, in honour of his birthday. It’s one of our oldest recipes, from the archives! Unfortunately, my dad is spending his birthday is hospital. He is a very much loved person, and we all wish him a speedy recovery….so many well wishers today!!

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about cheese cake! Did you know our world famous Polish Baked Cheese Cake is over 100 years old? Not the cake, the recipe!! This recipe has been used continuously since Monarch Cakes has been baking in St Kilda, 92 years, and before that for a decade in Poland.

Why is it special? Because our quark is made to the traditional methods that are hundreds of years old. Our Polish Baked Cheese Cake has stood the test of time. The fads have come & gone, while this gem has continued to delight generations!

Like most European cakes, it’s not overly sweet, yet hits perfectly as a dessert or with a cup of coffee. Have you had our cheese cake recently?? If not, try a slice today! Also sold as a whole cake to delight your family & friends!

Today is the start of the festival of Shavuot, a celebration of the harvest where eating dairy, such as cheese cake is a tradition. Our Polish Baked Cheese Cake is made to a 100 year old recipe using the finest of ingredients. Although we are not a kosher bakery, the quark, a sour cheese, that we use is kosher. This allows our cheese cake to be loved by everyone, as it is also Halal friendly. Serve as it is, or decorate with a selection of fresh berries. Order or pick up one today. We are baking daily to fill orders so please call ahead to ensure you don’t miss out! ♥️

It’s definitely a Polish Cheese Cake kind of day! As the leaves start to fall and the winter woolies come out, nothing is more heart warming than sharing a hot coffee & a piece of our 100 Year Old Recipe, Polish Baked Cheese Cake with friends!

Baked with love, our cheese cake is world renowned. Using quark which is tangy and slightly sour, our cheese cake is not overly sweet and pairs perfectly with a cup of coffee.

Very exciting news!! Our iconic Kooglhoupf gift box is back after a 5 year absence. Why is this exciting you ask??

Well….you will now be able to order a medium sized Kooglhoupf to send anywhere in Australia via express post!! Buy one for yourself or send one as a gift. This tough box was first created close to 20 years ago by an industrial designer to withstand almost anything while the Kooglhoupf travels across the country!

Monarch’s Famous Plum Cake, made daily, made lovingly and with the finest ingredients. The secret to our very special butter sponge is using the highest grade New Zealand butter….and love of course! Our plums, which are Australian grown, are soft, tangy & juicy, making this simple yet delicious cake a favourite among many generations!
