It has been a year since the last open mic night. A lot has happened in the world in that time. So many Melbourne lockdowns, new rules, public health orders, and a lot of people losing work, be it hospitality, musicians, so many fields...

Like you, I miss my tunes, and all the awesome performers who have been on the stage showing us their soul.

Myself, and Daintons have had multiple requests about our open mic re-starting. At this point, the open mic isn't coming back straight away. We are not setting a date as yet. I'm sure you understand, after the year that was, it is a hard decision to make, but had to be made for the future of the venue, loyal customers, and crew. Not to mention, they instantly re-instated the rest of their music gigs as soon as they could, thus giving all the musicians back their job they had lost for so long.

When i get a green light, i will be in touch with all booked for feb 2020 first.

Daintons are open as normal (Must currently book as number restrictions fluctuate...) So go down and check out a gig on the weekends, grab your missed, well loved beers, and check the new ones that have come out.

Support the venues that support local music, and Daintons have been the highest on that list since opening...

Stay well, see you for a Beer and Tune in the future.

Hey Dainton Family! We’re re-opening at Midday on Friday 5th of June!

Things will be a little different for the time being with reduced operating days and booking times being a maximum of 1 hour 45 minutes (so that we can share the Dainton love!) Booking size needs to be capped for the time being to a maximum of 6 patrons and we also ask that when you come down that you bring your appetite as it is required that each patron have a genuine meal with their delicious brew (or brews).

Once these restrictions begin to lift more, we will be sure to let you know!

For now, our temporary hours are below and we strongly recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment.

Saturday 6th June: 12-9.30pm

Hey friends, just a msg to wish you all well in iso. Hope everyone is doing OK and keeping sane.
For some it's a chance to hone in on your skills, for others it's a chance for a break. If you're keen on checking out open mic style music at the moment, get onto mic fb page. There are other open mic pages too. Heaps of ppl have joined, and you can put your own stuff up too... The open mic community are amazing, and now is a good time to check out other ppl across the country. Many local muso's are doing their live gigs now too, so you can still see a lot of local favourites. live is doing group home online sets.
We can still put up any of your music here in the meantime too... So if you want to throw a vid up on our open mic page, send it through.

Also, if you still want some beers, Daintons are still doing take aways and online, see page for days and times.

Best wishes to anyone out of work or heavily affected.

Stay safe, keep well, and look after each other. Big love. Lukie

Hey guys, Small Update. And wanting to post your tunes!!!

I won't be setting the date for the open mic until there is more clarity with opening venues. It's only fair at the current time. If the Govt could get their info straight, we would all be better off, and less confused......

But.... Send through any vids you like, the more music, the better energies, the better we feel..... So i will post any that you send through here. We may have to stay home, but we can still have our fun. Tag, link, share, anything... To old tunes, fav youtube acoustics, new songs you're doing.... Any, and all of the above.... We can't go out and support, but we can stay in with a cheeky beer, and still watch our mates doing their thing...

Big love, stay safe, stay home and social distance, to stop the spread. We are all in this together. And when its all back to normal, get out and support the locals who need you!

Hello music lovers.

This Thursday's March Open Mic will be postponed untill April.

And hopefully have the same March booked set list in April. As in, no March Open Mic this thursday. Due to the current corona virus situation, we find it in everyone's best Interests to cancel this month, to not spread this new disease. We are under the capacity, but still think this is the best thing to do for our musical community as sharing mic's and equipment, and spitting everywhere when we sing, isn't the best idea for the moment. Hard decision, but the right one, and I stand by it whole heartedly. Though I do understand views on this are controversial, and feel free to talk openly here. All comments welcomed. Agree or disagree, No bad blood. I will do my best to contact all the musicians personally to inform them as well. But just in case, tell the ones you know.... And I will inform all again further details for April when organised fully. This is granted there are less restrictions, more control, and a better view of the details of the disease by then. Anyone is welcome to msg me personally for more info. Personal apology to Tricia from Trimstone as Thursday we were going to celebrate her birthday. Sorry for this, and a very Happy birthday Tricia Stone.

So... Stock up on tunes, not toilet paper, wash your hands, and equipment, and always be excellent to each other.

Lukie

Awesome vid by Trimstone from Jan open mic. All heart and soul. Thank you. Also, for the man in the vid, Chris Ball Music. For more see their pages as tagged. Both Trimstone and chris, in their own right, are awesome musicians and people. And big supporters of local music and artists.

Hi all,

Just a short note. We will be booking 15 min slots for the future open mic nights. 7pm,7.15,7.30 and so on.

Over the last few months, we have been quiet early in the night, and then packed out. Sadly, as host i have given more time to some, and less to others because of this. I don't mean to, but I have to, so everyone has their moment. If walk ins were unaware of this new system, i would be happy to let them play of course, (within reason and time) But this way everyone has their times and songs. Next Open Mic will be the 19th of March. I will set the event up over the weekend, well ahead of time.

Msg the page for a booking, and what preferred time slot, first in best dressed..... Any times not filled, or cancelled, I will be happy to have a few of the regulars that may not be on the list for that night, but letting them do a few songs.... :)

Feedback on this welcomed.... Tell me if this suits, or how you feel about it.
Cheers, Lukie.

A bunch of random past and recent (like tonight recent) open mic shots. It's been a while, so I thought I would share some love.

Edit: I obviously saved some of Paul Gwillim Photography shots.... I just noticed. Lol. Great bloke and photographer. If you possibly save and use his shots, be sure to reach out, and buy him a beer at least for his friendly love of his work with awesome musicians. He loves what he does as we do as muso's.
