Rubix has come out of closure more often than John Farnham has come out of retirement.
Come celebrate Rubix’s unending streak of good fortune this Friday By Night with the plum sauce on our sticky pork and the 7 secret herbs and spices on our famous KFC (Khmer Fried Chicken) 🥂

And so it appears that the Tradie Gods have destined Rubix to the Hollywood playbook – we’ve been given a sequel we never wanted. We have just been informed that we will need to close for another 3 days this Saturday (25/07) - re-opening on Tuesday (28/07). We are replacing and upgrading the floor in the dining area. Originally, these works were planned for mid-September to give everyone a chance to recover from the sting of the recent 2-week closure. However, due to non-negotiable scheduling conflicts with our tradies, the timeline was brought forward last minute.
Friday (24/07) daytime will be our last service for the week. We will not be running Rubix By Night on Friday because we need time to completely remove all furniture from the shop floor.
As a small business that prides itself on consistency and reliability, we take no joy in announcing these closures and apologise for the inconvenience.
However, we hope that a roof that doesn’t leak and a floor that doesn’t creak will elevate your flat white to a higher peak.

🐣🐣We’re reopening on Monday! The Gods have blessed us and the builders are finishing on schedule.
Thank you for patiently waiting. We’re so excited to see you all soon!

There will still be scaffolding at the back of the shop remaining until next Friday as the final bits and bobs of the building repair are completed. The toilet will have to be accessed from the back gate of the shop.

Some spicy moments of the closure included:
• A building inspector had a slight misstep and accidentally ‘gifted us a skylight’ (aka his foot fell through the ceiling) just before he was about to sign off on everything
• Getting delivered the wrong heavy kitchen appliances
• The builders eating far more marshmallows than was agreed in the initial scope

Rip into Rubix By Night one last time this Friday/Saturday night before we hit pause for a couple of weeks.

Planned closure 🛠️: 06/07/26 - 20/07/26
Rubix will be temporarily closed to allow for major roof repairs. We will be using this closure to take a small break and double down on expanding our internal capacity for future growth.
We apologise for the inconvenience to our customers but look forward to re-opening rejuvenated and stronger than ever on Monday 20/07.
