New answer to "where will you go?"
Oscar's on the Yarra!

Everyone talks about escaping winter, booking flights somewhere warm, chasing sun instead of just sitting in the cold for once. We reckon that's the wrong move. There's snow twenty minutes up the road at Mt Donna Buang, and a fire already going back at Oscar's.

This is what winter's actually for. Sleeping in until you feel like getting up. Coffee on the balcony, wrapped in a blanket, warming your hands before you've even had a sip. That quiet, homely, country stillness that makes you forget you're only 90 minutes from Melbourne.

No flights, no sunscreen, no rush to be anywhere.

Oscar’s is waiting…book now!

Open Instagram right now and there's a good chance someone you know is in Positano, or Santorini, or somewhere in Croatia, looking impossibly tanned and impossibly far away. And it's beautiful, no argument there.

But that trip took a 24 hour flight, a packed suitcase, jet lag, and a fair chunk of savings. This took a 90 minute drive.

Mountains instead of a plane window. A sauna instead of a pool bar. Snowmen instead of sunburn. And you could be here by tonight, not in three months once you've saved enough leave.

Who needs Europe when you've got this on your doorstep.

Life doesn't really let up, does it? Emails before you've even had coffee, a mind that's already three meetings ahead, a to-do list that somehow gets longer the more you cross off. We tell ourselves rest is something we'll get to eventually, once things settle down. They don't.

When was the last time you actually stopped? Not a Sunday spent half-relaxing, half-thinking about Monday. Actually stopped. No emails. No mind wandering to next week's meetings, or what's for dinner for the next seven days.

That's what a night or two at Oscar's is for.

Not another thing to plan around, just permission to switch off completely.

If you’re seeing this post, take it as a sign!

Two Fridays, same time, worlds apart.

One's horns, brake lights, and a footpath full of people trying to get somewhere. The other's mountains, birdsong, and absolutely nowhere to be.

Which one are you choosing?

Maybe you've been to the Yarra Valley before, for a wedding, a long lunch, a day trip that felt too short.
Maybe you've driven through on your way somewhere else, watching the mountains roll past the window.
Maybe you've said "I'd love to go there properly one day" more times than you can count.

If this has landed on your feed, take it as your sign. Not for an event, not passing through. Just for you, to actually slow down.

It might just be a little country town, but don't let that fool you. Warburton is packed with character, heart, and soul...

It might just be a little country town, but don't let that fool you. Warburton is packed with character, heart, and soul. Here's a few of our favourites ➡️

Silva Coffee Roastery
Started by Wayne and Cleo back in 2010, using a roaster Wayne built himself. Silva now turns out some of the best beans in the valley. Try the tasting flight, three different coffees so you can find your favourite, or just order the usual. Either way, it's the best cup in town.

📍 Unit 1/3400 Warburton Hwy, Warburton VIC 3799

Mill Grove Dairy, Hand Made Cheese
A family-run cheesemaker doing award-winning Gouda, all by hand in small batches (the Black Pepper took gold, if you're picking). Pop in for a taste and grab a wheel to bring back home with you.

📍 Fromagerie The Mill House, 2874 Warburton Hwy, Wesburn VIC 3799

Little Joe, Dine In and Take Away
Wood-fired pizza with a proper char, cooked in an open kitchen you can watch from your table. Add a glass of local wine and that's your night sorted, no bookings at a fancy city restaurant required.

📍 3416 Warburton Hwy, Warburton VIC 3799

Yarra Valley Wine Co, Wine Bar & Store
This building's been a mechanic's workshop, a tyre shop, a video store, and a bike shop over the years. Now it's home to some of the best wine in the valley. Grab a tasting paddle, get cosy by the fire, and let someone else do the pouring for once.

📍 3371 Warburton Hwy, Warburton VIC 3799

3 Sugars, Cafe
A Warburton institution for over ten years, and for good reason. All-day breakfast, proper pies, coffee strong enough to fuel a full day of exploring.

📍 Shop 6, 3389 Warburton Hwy, Warburton VIC 3799

Warburton Bakery
Hot pies, fresh bread, and a spot by the river to eat them. Simple, and exactly what you want after a morning walk.

📍 3415 Warburton Hwy, Warburton VIC 3799

Save this for your next trip to Warburton. We've done the planning, all you need to do is book.

Pull back the curtains at Oscar's on the Yarra and this is what greets you.

This guesthouse has been welcoming people to the Yarra Valley for over a hundred years. Twelve acres of grassy lawns roll down to the river, the mountains sit in the background, and the birds are up before you are. Inside, it's warm blankets, floorboards with character, and a kettle that's always on.

This isn't a big glossy hotel, it's better. It's the kind of place that feels like staying with family: comfortable and completely unhurried.

A hundred years of people have woken up to this same view. Now it's your turn.

Birds instead of notifications.
The sound of the stream filling your mind instead of your to-do list.
Hot tea filling your cup, warming you from the inside out.
Then the sauna… heat wrapping around you, silence so complete you forget the outside world exists.

Only ninety minutes from Melbourne, and all it takes is two nights to reset.

Imagine this…

You're standing in a Redwood Forest. It's silent except your breath.

Twenty minutes later you're sweating it out in a sauna, then staring at more stars than you've seen all year.

This is Warburton in winter.

Book Oscar's on the Yarra and see for yourself.
