Cruelty free aquarium cycling! Cycling an aquarium is an essential part of establishing a healthy environment for your fish, turtles and other water pets. It involves creating the proper balance of beneficial bacteria in the tank to break down toxic ammonia (produced by waste, uneaten food, etc.) into nitrites and then into less harmful nitrates.
In other words, cycling an aquarium requires establishing The Nitrogen Cycle. To start The Nitrogen Cycle you will need to add a source of ammonia.
Traditionally, this has been done by adding a few tough fish to the aquarium – usually goldfish. The problem with doing this, is that the goldfish are exposed to toxins while the tank is cycling. This is not good for their health and causes stress and discomfort.
The new way to add ammonia is called fishless cycling. This involves adding a specially prepared solution to the tank such as Aqua-Pics Cycle-Right.
