Winter calls for dishes with a little more warmth, richness and comfort.

Head Chef John’s seasonal menu brings together slow-cooked meats, handmade pasta and quality winter produce. Think Wagyu Short Rib Croquettes slow-cooked for 12 hours, and Pappardelle tossed through a rich Wagyu brisket, native vodka and tomato sauce.

If you haven’t tried the winter menu yet, now’s the time. 🍷🍝

Nothing beats that first drink after work, especially when you know half the bar. 🍻

Pull up a stool, catch up with a few familiar faces and settle in for an evening with the locals. The drinks are cold, the conversation is flowing and there’s always room for one more at the bar.

A Truffle Affair ends on a sweet note. 🍫

Our warm dark chocolate soufflé is light, rich and served straight from the oven with malt ice cream, aromatic tonka bean anglaise and fresh-shaved Victorian black truffle. An unexpected combination that brings together deep chocolate, creamy sweetness and the earthy aroma of truffle.

Try it as part of our four-course Truffle Affair menu, with two canapés on arrival, for $75 per person from 11–16 August. 🍄

Meet John Mu, Head Chef at Prohibition. 👨‍🍳

John’s career has taken him through some of the world’s most demanding kitchens, from Michelin-starred Hakkasan in New York to Vue de monde, Restaurant Lume, Matteo and most recently Zagame’s House.

His cooking philosophy is simple: fusion, not confusion. Expect Modern Australian food shaped by his East Asian heritage, with bold flavours, precise technique and quality produce at the heart of every dish.

At Prohibition, John’s goal is to bring hatted-restaurant standards to the neighbourhood—exceptional food, without the pretension.

A little theatre behind the bar before the first sip. 🍸

There’s something satisfying about watching a cocktail come together, the ice hitting the shaker, the quick taste check and that final pour into a chilled glass.
