Happy New Year South Melbourne! Stepping into 2026, we’d like to pause and say thank you. 🤍
After six and a half wonderful years, we handed the keys back in December 2025 and closed the doors to Light Up Coffee (for now). What began as a little coffee shop became so much more because of you: our community, our regulars, our friends.

This photo from our last day of trading says it all — a celebration filled with gratitude, love, and the best community we could have asked for. We’re deeply grateful for every coffee shared, every conversation, every moment of support over the years.

Thank you for being part of our journey and for lighting up this space with us.

✨ A Big Thank You, South Melbourne 🤍✨

After six amazing years, we’ll be saying goodbye (for now). Our last day of trading will be 29 November 2025 (Sat).

With our lease ending and a newborn now in the family,
we’ve decided it’s time to pause, take a breather,
and start a new chapter closer to home after some family time together.

Since opening in April 2019, this little corner has seen it all —
city lockdowns and reopenings, buildings come and go,
from tradies to office crowds, and neighbours who’ve become friends.
Through it all, your support has kept us going.

From the two of us behind the counter — alongside our wonderful team over the years —
to now two little ones in our family,
our love for specialty coffee, good food, and genuine connection has never changed.

We’d love to celebrate these final weeks with you —
Come by for a few more coffees and bites, or just a chat before we say goodbye ☕💛

We’ll deeply miss our daily chats —
about coffee, babies, dogs, work, travel, weather, muffin of the day, and everything in between —
and we’ll never forget the love, kindness, and friendship you’ve shown us through every season.

Our mission has always been to See the Impossibles —
to bring warmth, community, and a little light into everyday moments —
and you’ve made that possible for us every single day.

Thank you, truly, for being part of our story.

“Hello!” from another new Light Up member - Rayna, born on 12 Oct 25. And yes we are ready to serve you some Light Up coffee and food again tomorrow!

Can’t thank everyone enough for your support through this 10-month journey. (Rayna has been taste-testing the coffee, matcha and chocolate here daily over last 10 months though now she may get distracted with milk and the world with big brother Ezra).

Grand Final Weekend - we will be closed tomorrow on Friday, but we will OPEN on Saturday Grand Final Day for your coffee and breakfast fix and get you ready for the game!

A reminder that we will be hosting a free workshop tomorrow 2 July 5:30-7pm.

In partnership with Positive Life Strength Coaching, this workshop will help you with rediscovering your goals and purpose, whether it is long term, short term, personal, career or life long, finding the strengths that you already have, and reconciling those strengths to achieve your goals.
