After many years of cooking with O'Connor Beef our guests still comment on how much they love our steak tartare

At Bau Bau we serve the fillet raw as a carpaccio in true Italian fashion.

We have added the eye fillet steak to the Bau Bau Dining menu now - and it is as popular in as it has always been in

Steak tartare really relies on that perfect grass fed beef flavour

So looking for a place to enjoy O'Connor Beef on the peninsula swing past Bau Bau Dining or Bistro Elba

If there is one great thing about winter… it’s eating cheese… and if you are in Sorrento Village we suggest that you come eat cheese here at Bistro Elba - the cheese is always perfectly ripe - however if you are heading up into the Yarra Valley our recommendation is stopping off at Sophie Classon in Healesville- almost all our cheese knowledge comes via to that wonderful lady… her shop is a cheese dream of the best kind.

Looking a little bit like something out of - black salsify or scorzonera - has other great names for example- oyster plant
- serpent root - Spanish salsify, and viper’s grass. We are using it with Rockflathead fillets, salt bush amd sauce gribiche. The briney sweet flavour is just so intriguing - I think this weeks the question most asked is “what is salsify”… our answer is “oh it’s a delicious root vegetable we are growing at our little farm.

The algorithms apparently favour people’s faces and video… At bau bau we favour pictures of hands, as it’s not the faces doing all the work to make our guests feel spoiled - it’s the many hands that work all day everyday creating - carrying - folding - shaking - to bring our little italian restaurant to life for you. Share this post with someone who hasnt yet been to Bau Bau - and give our little hands a chance to make their day .
