Super privileged today to have been able to share time with the wonderful Loaiza family in Alto Naranjal, Buesaco, Nariño; staring Miguel, undersung heroes Monica and Deicy (with Sebastian), and — not captured in photos — Marcela, Yeferson, Leonardo, Yonathan, and Fernando.
One of the reasons for our visit was to receive the second (and in many cases ultimate) round of parchment samples from the family. We can’t wait to taste them this week - we’re expecting some straight up excellent coffees.
This fresh harvest high altitude Nariño gold will be in your cups perhaps around November this year, making almost 12 months since the seed started to form after late 2025 flowering :-) (Good things cannot be rushed after all)
How you can encounter these delights, you’re wondering? Easy… Coffees from small scale producers of Nariño make up a large proportion of Candyman for much of the year, and increasingly find their way into our filter roast menu (Fernando’s chiroso last year was a banger). Flavours contributed by these beauties, super broadly speaking? Expect the following: aromatic herbs, red berries, citrus and often some floral notes, plus panela.
We say a big hell-yes to no-schlock blends (as well as smallholder-sourced goodness across the whole Small Batch menu), and we’re grateful that you are saying yes too!

Victor Bermudez’s Gesha is memorable for both its ‘wow level cup quality’ and because of the work that shaped it.
Working from his family’s farm in Huila, Colombia, Victor has developed a thoughtful approach to processing—one that favours restraint over intervention. Each decision is made to preserve clarity, allowing the character of the variety and the place it was grown to remain at the forefront.
The result is the kind of Gesha that reminds you why the variety became so celebrated in the first place.
In the cup: jasmine florals, bright tangerine, lemongrass and a silky, creamy finish.
Available for a short time through our cellar door and online store, while this small lot lasts.

Small Batch is looking for a General Manager to help lead its next era of growth.
Overseeing operations across roastery, retail, wholesale, team leadership, marketing, and the launch of a major new venue, this role is for someone who can turn vision into structure and momentum.
We’re looking for an experienced operator with strong commercial instincts, excellent communication, and a proven ability to build trust, structure teams, and deliver consistently in fast-moving hospitality environments.
This is an opportunity to take real ownership within a business that stands for something, with genuine authority, accountability, and the chance to help shape what comes next alongside a founder ready to share the load.
Apply through link in bio.
