Tartiflette? What is ette?
It's pretty much potato gratin on steroids.
But imagine.
It's dark.
Cold.
You've spent a day out in the crisp alpine. You've burnt a mountain of calories that need serious restocking.
Inside, an old world chef drops a serious old world dish on your counter top. Tartiflette.
Potato. Bacon. Onion and more.
All fighting for its life under melting roblachon cheese.
Cheese dripped heaven on a plate.
It's the ultimate of comfort foods hailing from people that know how to replenish after a day in the cold 🥶 ❄️.
It's also our seasonal inspiration for our current focaccia.
Here until we run out of cold weather.

ITS FRIED CHICKEN & WAFFLES!!
Smoked maple syrup + jalapeño relish + croissant butter + crispy skin.
This all started with Fluff making croissant butter. Yes, croissant butter!!! Then it was, woah, this would be so good with fried chicken. Et voila - here it is!!!

So, this is a hard one.
I guess there’s no easy way to say this. So here it is…
Very soon I will be saying goodbye to Custodian Kitchen.
Phew. There, I said it! 2920 days or so, (minus my “gap year)” and here we are. My time with you all is coming to an end. Have I loved every minute of it? Absolutely! I wouldn’t be who I am if it wasn’t for my Custodian family - both staff and customers.
Can I just tell you what a privilege it has been to be a part of your lives for the last 8 years?!
I’ve seen families welcome their first, second and third child, then watched these children grow. I’ve seen some of my closest friends celebrate their wedding day in our cafe because the space meant so much to them. We’ve hosted fantastic birthday parties - parties that I’ve felt like I’ve been a part of too. I’ve seen joy. I’ve seen loss and hardship, stress and sadness. Man, we weathered Covid together…
We’ve shared hugs and laughs and tears. We’ve shared so much.
It’s a lot to walk away from. Maybe that’s not the right way to put it. I’m not walking away. I’m not turning my back. I’m celebrating everything that we have created. These memories I’ll carry with me forever. Custodian is the first place I ever owned, and I’ve loved it more than I ever could have imagined. But I have other dreams and other ideas and when the time is right I’ll make them come true.
So for now I’m going to be with my wonderful family. In a few months we’ll grow from 3 to 4!!
Rest assured, you’re still in good hands. Amazing hands really!! Gerry along with Fluff, Sophia, Aliya, Bunta, Katie, Maddie, Charlie, Lauren, Myo and Peggy will still be giving you all the things you know and love from Custodian.

To get to South Road in Kingston, you can take the XX bus and get off at the South Road stop. Alternatively, if you are driving, you can take the A23 and turn onto South Road. There is paid parking available at the nearby parking lot on Main Street. Walk down South Road until you reach the corner with High Street. The restaurant/coffee shop should be on your right-hand side.
