There is pain involved in pursuing perfection… the fastidiousness and relentlessness are never ending.
— Paul Bridgeman, Chief Winemaker, Levantine Hill

What a way to close our 2026 Wine Dinner lineup.

An unforgettable evening of cucina povera in high heels and a tuxedo, paired with one of the most awarded wine collections in the country, as Levantine Hill Estate was recently recognised as the No. 2 winery in Australia in the 2026 Top Wineries of Australia Awards by The Real Review.

To Paul Bridgeman - thank you. Your generosity, humour, precision and storytelling made this one of the most memorable wine dinners we have ever hosted. A true sprezzatura raconteur, and a winemaker whose pursuit of perfection can be felt in every glass.

And to , thank you for trusting us with your extraordinary wines and your story.

Our menu for the evening:

🖤 Albacore tuna, guanciale, fennel, Worcestershire
🍷 Levantine Hill Blanc de Blanc 2022

🖤 Rocky Point QLD cobia carpaccio, tomatoes, peppers, bottarga
🍷 Levantine Hill Chardonnay 2023

🖤 Chestnut agnolotti with lamb and porcini
🍷 Levantine Hill Pinot Noir 2023

🖤 Wagyu rump cap, bordelaise, rapi
🍷 Levantine Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

🖤 Sponge, dates, mascarpone
🍷 Levantine Hill Mélange Botrytis 2020

To our chefs, our front of house team, our suppliers and our incredible guests - thank you. Nights like these only happen when every person in the room brings something special to the table.

And that wraps up our 2026 Wine Dinner lineup, proudly recognised by .

But we’re only just getting started.

Our next season launches 22 July - featuring a two chef’s hat guest chef, Victorian bitter-sweet carefully blended elixirs, and one of Italy’s oldest wineries.

A little off-menu moment from our Yumbah X Brackenwood Wine Dinner.

oysters dressed with plum, rhubarb and avruga caviar, served alongside Spencer Gulf Kingfish, and paired with Brackenwood Riesling 2023.

Back in April, we brought together some of Australia’s most exceptional seafood producers - , , and - for one night only in the Tuscan Room. Five courses, each shaped by provenance. Cold, nutrient-rich waters. Clean handling. Ingredients that arrived at the kitchen with a story already behind them.

Paired throughout with wines from , a biodynamic estate in the Adelaide Hills, presented by owner and winemaker Damon Nagel. Minimal intervention. Maximum character.

Nights like this don’t make the front page. They don’t need to.

More from this dinner soon.

Some dishes just stop you in your tracks.

Chocolate, Chestnut & Sponge - aerated chocolate sponge, layered with homemade velvety chestnut cream, glossy dark chocolate ganache, new season chestnuts. Elegant, grounding and quietly unforgettable.

At its heart, this dish is cucina povera - the Italian tradition of “poor cooking,” where nothing is wasted and humble, seasonal ingredients are transformed into something deeply nourishing and beautiful.

In the northern regions of Piedmont and Tuscany, chestnuts weren’t a luxury. They were survival. Ground into flour, stirred into soups, pressed into creams. Over generations, that necessity became artistry. Our dessert lives in that lineage. Inspired by the classic Crème de Marrons preparations of those regions, it carries the Italian philosophy of elevating what the land gives you into something timeless.

Then came the pairing. Botrytis Riesling 2022 - and the room went quiet. The wine’s honeyed richness and luminous acidity cut through the ganache and lifted the earthiness of the chestnut cream. This is what wine dinners are for.

Our Yumbah X Brackenwood Wine Dinner was a celebration of Australia’s most pristine waters. Five courses shaped by provenance, featuring the exceptional work of , , and - producers who represent the very best of what our coastline has to offer. From the cold, nutrient-rich depths of Spencer Gulf to the table at Little Black Pig & Sons, every plate told a story of place, care and craft.

Thank you to Damon Nagel for presenting his biodynamic wines with such generosity and insight, and to for a menu that reminded us all why we do this.

Nights like these don’t happen by accident. They happen because of the relationships.

Last night was something special. 🖤🍷

A room full of people, incredible produce, stories that got better as the night went on - and yes, I’m sure there are a few sore heads out there today.

Our Yumbah X Brackenwood Wine Dinner was a true coming together of land and sea. The kind of night that reminds us why we do this and a reflection of David’s passion for the industry, our team’s dedication to the craft (front and back of house), and the stunning produce Victoria and Australia has to offer.

To our producers - , , , and - thank you. Without you, none of this would be possible. The care, the quality, the respect for place - it’s everything.

A massive thank you to Damon Nagel for travelling all the way from South Australia to present with us - a true biodynamic muse - and to for putting up with Damon and David’s shenanigans. And to Mark and , for representing the very best of Australian seafood.

It’s not often we have a food producer presenting at our wine dinners, so having Mark and Louie in the room was something special. And credit to our guests - some of those questions almost stumped our seafood experts.

To our staff - front and back of house - a massive shout out. Your efforts never go unnoticed. From the floor to the pass, and to our hero kitchenhand Hassan, nights like this simply don’t happen without you.

And to our guests and regulars - where would Little Black Pig be without you? You bring the energy, the curiosity, the willingness to lean in. You make the room what it is.

At the heart of it all is ’s cooking, shaped by his time with Nonna Clara, his muse - the one who trained him to be the chef he is today. Simple, produce-led cucina povera, done with care.

From the kitchen to the vineyard to the ocean - thank you for making nights like last night possible.

We’ll do it all again soon. 🖤

Good times at Little Black Pig & Sons. 🖤

Every night, we come back to the same idea -
simple food, made well, shared at the table.

It’s what Nonna Clara taught David.
Cucina povera.
Cooking with what you have. Cooking for who’s in front of you.

Italian cuisine was recently recognised by UNESCO, but for us, it’s always been about something more human than that.
Not just tradition, but resilience.
The ability to gather, to cook, to pour a glass and sit together - no matter what’s happening beyond the table.

Because even when the world feels uncertain, people still come together.
We still celebrate.
We still find joy in food, in wine, in each other.

And here we are, in our corner of suburban Melbourne, doing just that.

Fortnightly menus.
Local produce.
And fine dining that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

This is what it means to be here.
This is Little Black Pig & Sons.

One table. Australia’s coastline at its finest. 🐟🖤

On Thursday 23 April, we’re sitting down with four of the country’s most respected seafood producers - , , and - for a wine dinner built entirely around provenance.

From open-ocean kingfish raised in Spencer Gulf’s cold, nutrient-rich waters, to wild Victorian abalone and Tasmanian blue-eye, every plate begins with the question: where did this come from and who cared for it?

The cooking is distinctively - produce-driven, instinctive, shaped by his history in Punjab and refined through Nonna Clara’s restraint and respect for produce.

Poured alongside is , a biodynamic Adelaide Hills estate owned by Damon Nagel. Sommelier-turned-vigneron, minimal intervention and deeply expressive, Damon will present Riesling, Gamay, Syrah and a Botrytis Riesling to close at our Yumbah X Brackenwood Wine Dinner.

The menu:
• Spencer Gulf kingfish, persimmon, green chilli, shallots, bottarga, paired with Brackenwood Riesling 2023: bright, mineral and finely cut with citrus.

• Portland Bay abalone, ‘nduja, fennel and pear jam, tarragon, paired with Brackenwood Skinny White 2020: textured, aromatic and quietly savoury.

• Agnolotti del plin with prawn, scallop, bisque, matched with Brackenwood Gamay 2022: light, lifted and gently spiced.

• Tasmanian blue-eye, braised leeks, Mount Martha mussels, beurre blanc, matched with Brackenwood Syrah 2022: silky, vibrant and perfumed.

• Chocolate, chestnut, sponge, served with Brackenwood Botrytis Riesling 2022: lush, honeyed and citrus-bright.

Damon will guide you through each pour. David and through each plate. And yes - we’ll finish with the options game. 🖤

On days like today, we’re reminded of why we do what we do - not just the craft of great food, but the deeper reason behind it. The shared meals. The people who gather around them. The moments that actually matter.

We choose to close on public holidays and special family days because we live by the same values we cook by: slow down, be intentional, and never take the people around you for granted.

Thank you for being part of our story. We don’t take your support lightly. It’s all of you - our Little Black Pig family - that make it all possible.

Happy Easter - we hope your day is filled with warmth, good food, and everyone you love. 🖤

A dish that captured the spirit of the night.

Murray cod, stuffed zucchini flower, saffron, paired with Cusumano Shamaris Grillo Sicilia DOC 2024. A wine shaped by Sicily’s coastal vineyards, where sea air and sun bring brightness, salinity and lift to the glass.

It was one of those dishes that had the whole room talking. A perfect meeting of place and plate.

A special thank you to Frank Preiato for bringing the wines to life with his storytelling, and for showing us exactly why we chose to focus on Sicily as a region. (More on that soon… follow along for the full story in our upcoming reels.)

A hobbyist gardener with a small property in Korumburra South, Raffaele has been harvesting summer truffles since 2017, and now they're on our menu.

In this reel, he breaks down how to spot a good truffle, what causes the white markings you sometimes see, and how much longer we can expect the season to run.

29/03/2026

I came to Australia from India when I was 19. Italian cuisine found me far from Italy, in an Italian family restaurant, standing beside the late Clara Capuzzi. She was 74 when she taught me not just recipes, but a quiet passing down of culture, values and tradition that shaped the way I see the world today.

For 12 years, I learned how to make pasta by hand, how to cook without measurements, how to trust instinct. But more importantly, I learned what it means to sit at a table together. To wait. To share. To belong.

Italian cuisine took me in, gave me a place at the table, and made me family. Its recognition by is deeply deserved and a reminder that food is more than nourishment - it’s memory, heritage, and an act of peace.

No one in my house starts eating until we’re all seated. It’s important to feed the stomach, but feeding the soul is even more important. Because that’s how you bring peace, especially considering what’s happening in the world. The planet is very fragile right now, and what we need is food, and music, to bring people together, break bread together, and find some kind of peace.

That philosophy lives in everything we do at Little Black Pig & Sons. From the bread to the pasta to the gelato, it’s all handmade, because simplicity carries memory. And memory is what connects us.

I see it every night. The simple act of eating together at a table is invaluable - for a moment, everything feels still.

Grateful to share ’s story again with .

There's something special about a truffle that arrives with a story attached.

Our summer truffles are sourced from a Gippsland gardening hobbyist who also happens to be a regular.

Fresh, subtle, earthy. The kind of produce that quietly lifts everything around it. Right now you'll find them shaved over our wagyu beef tartare and agnolotti del plin with spinach, caramelised onions and Squacquerone, or finished onto the chargrilled black angus rib eye - each a $7 add-on that we'd call essential.

Summer truffle season is brief. Visit while they last.

Some wines find their way to you. Others need a little help.

When Cecilia Pasqua of Pasqua Wines heard we were hosting a Pasqua Wine Dinner here at Little Black Pig, she made something very special happen - a case of Sangue D’oro Passito di Pantelleria DOC 2022 was packed up and shipped all the way to Australia. Just for us.

As Frank Preiato of Alepat Taylor put it: this is the first time this wine has ever been poured on Australian soil.

Sangue D’oro - “Golden Blood” - is a rare, luscious passito from the sun-drenched island of Pantelleria, crafted from Zibibbo grapes dried under the Sicilian sun. It is, in a word, extraordinary.

We are deeply honoured to be the first to share it with you.

We asked Cecilia Pasqua what her favourite pairing of the evening was at our Pasqua Wine Dinner.

Her answer? Dessert.

Our pistachio & macadamia Bombe Alaska, paired with Pasqua Wines Sangue d’Oro Passito di Pantelleria DOC 2022.

Cecilia shared the story behind this remarkable wine - made from Zibibbo grapes grown on the tiny volcanic island of Pantelleria, between Sicily and Tunisia. Here, vines grow low to the ground in small stone terraces to protect them from the island’s fierce Mediterranean winds, producing intensely aromatic, sun-dried grapes that give the wine its honeyed richness and citrus perfume.
