Michael's back from his travels and, apparently, straight back to work — he's barely unpacked before sliding into the WAWDW chair and cracking open Seeker Brewing 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗹𝘃𝗶𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁, a 10% Pastry Stout from the good people in Wollongong.

The Elvis Breakfast. Named after the King's legendary sandwich — peanut butter, banana, and the kind of commitment to excess that made him iconic. Seeker have taken that energy and put it in a can at 10%. For a Wednesday morning. Michael, mate. Welcome back.

Seeker are a craft brewery tucked under the Illawarra escarpment on the NSW South Coast, and they've built a reputation for beers that match the adventure energy of their surroundings. This one is anything but adventurous in the traditional sense — it's a big, dark, decadent winter warmer that demands nothing from you except your full attention.

New Wines of the Month are here. 🍷

We may have shortened our trading hours for winter, but we haven't cut corners on the wine list. This month we're pouring two drops from South Australian producer Byrne Vineyards under their Thievin' Devlin label — both $10 a glass.

🥂 Thievin' Devlin Sauvignon Blanc Semillon — fresh and zesty with lively lime and passionfruit, finishing crisp and refreshing
🍷 Thievin' Devlin Shiraz — juicy red plum and black cherry, medium-bodied and smooth with a bright finish

Cold Legs, Warm Hearts. Back Again.

First off a massive shoutout to Dave for organising the Hopheads Beer Run on Sunday. Was great to see so many out there doing da thing and grabbing a few beers along the way!

On HHRC - solid turnouts all round again last week despite the temperatures dropping — nothing like a few kays to warm the blood. Proud of every single person who keeps showing up week after week.

This week's forecast is a bit of a mixed bag to be honest. Tuesday in Yarraville is looking properly rough — heavy showers and strong winds at run time. We're still going, but dress for it and maybe leave the good shoes at home. Wednesday in Altona is looking better as the evening goes on. Thursday in Point Cook? Dry, calm, and about 15 degrees. Chef's kiss. 🙌

🍦 WAWDW — YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THIS TASTES LIKE

Mia's making her WAWDW debut this week and she's gone straight for nostalgia — picking Co-Conspirators Brewing Company Sunseeker Weiss Bar Sour, a collab with 10 Toes Brewery brewed especially for Pint of Origin 2026.

The name says it all. If you grew up in Australia, you know the Weis Bar — that moment at the school canteen or the servo on a hot day when you cracked open something cold, creamy and tropical and everything was briefly very good. Co-Conspirators and 10 Toes have bottled exactly that feeling. Raspberry, passionfruit, banana and lactose on a sour base — playful, punchy and built for sunshine sessions.

Our Brunswick neighbours at Co-Conspirators have done it again.

Some of our Hopheads Run Club regulars have put together something special this Sunday — and we reckon you should know about it. 🏃

A few of the crew have organised a self-guided brewery run through some of Melbourne's best craft beer destinations, finishing right here at Hopheads Yarraville. This one's community organised — not an official Hopheads event — but we love it and we'll have the welcome mat out when you arrive.

Here's the route:

🍎 𝐖𝐀𝐖𝐃𝐖 — 𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐑𝐎𝐖

All good things must come to an end, and Andrew's final WAWDW appearance is no exception. He's gone out on an absolute high — choosing Duncan's Brewing Co.'s 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿 from the Kāpiti Coast, and delivering a review that is frankly a lot funnier than most farewell speeches we've heard.

Duncan's have been making dessert beers from their independent micro brewery just north of Wellington since 2014, and this one is the full crumble experience in a can — boysenberry, apple, a blueberry cameo, all sitting on a rich oat and biscuit malt base. Eight percent and dangerously drinkable.

Andrew, as always, had thoughts.

🌿 WAWDW — DROP IT LIKE IT'S HOPS

Wade's back in the WAWDW chair this week and he's brought something from the NSW South Coast that absolutely nobody was expecting — Dangerous Ales Dr Damo 2026 Terpene West Coast IPA.

For the uninitiated: terpenes are the aromatic compounds that give hops — and a certain other plant — their distinctive character. Dangerous Ales have leaned fully into that with Abstrax's Pineapple Express terpene extract, producing a 7% West Coast IPA that is bold, dank, resinous, and very much unapologetic about it. Orange peel, pineapple, citrus, pine. And yeah, that other thing too.

Year two of Team Hopheads at the Mother's Day Classic and we couldn't be prouder. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who laced up and joined us on the day, and to every single person who donated, shared, or supported us in any way — it genuinely means the world.

Together we raised $1,703 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) well beyond our $1,000 goal. Two years in and we're already making it count.

We'll see you again next year, bigger and better. 💛

You Can't Stop the Altona Crew. Apparently.

Last week was a good one all round — solid turnouts across all three locations despite the weather doing its worst. Special mention to the Altona crew on Wednesday who showed up in what was, let's be honest, genuinely horrible conditions. That's commitment. Proud of every single one of you.

Great to see so many participating in the Tempo Tuesday with Jordan from The Running Company-Yarraville - lovely to have a bit of variation out there!

Back at it this week, Tuesday through Thursday, all 6:15pm, run at 6:30. [WEATHER UPDATE MONDAY — swap in forecast here] Hawkers tinnie at the finish, Runner's Refuel with Village Cantina Pier 71 Bar e Cucina and Old Pal Korean Kitchen after.

Big week beyond the runs — Strixhaven MTG Draft is back at Yarraville on Wednesday, and live music is on at all three venues Friday. Altona also has something extra special on Friday — a Mountain Monk beer launch and tasting. If you haven't tried Mountain Monk yet, this is the excuse you needed.
