🤘 NIGHTS OF BREWTALITY — CRONOS/VENOM TRIBUTE
📍 Hopheads Yarraville | Wednesday 7 October | Doors 6:30pm | FREE

Welcome to Hell. 🩸💀

With the sad passing of Cronos on October 1st, we lost one of the true architects of extreme metal. Venom's influence on heavy music cannot be overstated — Black Metal, Thrash, Death Metal, the entire extreme metal world owes a debt to those rowdy rascals from Newcastle.

This Wednesday DJ Dantor dedicates the night to Cronos and the band that started it all. Expect Venom deep cuts alongside the legions they inspired — S***m, Mayhem, Midnight, Darkthrone, Slayer, Nifelheim, Bütcher, Sepultura, Watain, Dave Grohl and a million more descendants of their debauchery.

And raise a pint of Hop Nation Melbourne Black to the man himself. Slàinte, Cronos.

Cold taps. Free entry. This one's for the legions.

🔥🤘 RIP Cronos. 🤘🔥

🍊 𝐖𝐀𝐖𝐃𝐖 — 𝐁𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐈𝐄 𝐈𝐒 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 🐗

Lil's in the WAWDW chair this week, and she's picked a b**r with a genuine comeback story behind it — Feral Brewing Company's 𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗲, an East Coast-style Hazy IPA.

Feral were one of the true trailblazers of Australian craft b**r, founded in WA back in 2002 and quickly becoming one of the country's most decorated breweries. In 2017 they were bought out by Coca-Cola, and for a while it looked like that might be the end of Feral as WA's own. But in 2024, fellow independent WA breweries Nail Brewing and B**rfarm bought Feral back off Coke, returning the brand to independent hands. Biggie, Hop Hog and the rest of the classic range never stopped — and now they're back on our shelves where they belong.

👩💬 Lil's take:
"𝐵𝑖𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑛𝑎𝑚𝑒, 𝑏𝑖𝑔 𝑖𝑛 𝑓𝑙𝑎𝑣𝑜𝑢𝑟! 𝐹𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑙 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑢𝑠 𝑎𝑛 𝐼𝑃𝐴 𝑓𝑢𝑙𝑙 𝑜𝑓 𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑝𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑓𝑟𝑢𝑖𝑡 𝑝𝑢𝑛𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑠, 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑎 𝑗𝑢𝑖𝑐𝑦 𝑜𝑟𝑎𝑛𝑔𝑒 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑖𝑠ℎ. Reality Fracture Draft Night is on at Hopheads Yarraville this Wednesday. 🌀🃏

This is the one MTG players have been talking about. Jace Beleren has pushed reality to its breaking point — and the Echoverse, his warped mirror of the Multiverse, is threatening to consume everything. The "What If?" scenarios baked into this set make for one of the most creative and flavourful drafts of the year. At least two legendaries per pack, a chance at five rares — and some genuinely wild cards to crack open.

Prerelease kicks off worldwide this past weekend, so your Wednesday draft is about as fresh as it gets.

Reality Fracture Draft — Hopheads Yarraville

Long Weekend? Legs Still Moved. 🏃‍♂️🍺

Last week's HHRC did exactly what a long weekend eve normally does — Yarraville turned up strong, Altona was rock solid as always, and Point Cook went nice and quiet (completely on brand for a footy grand final eve — respect to the handful who still laced up).

👟 Wear test alert again this week — Tuesday it's PUMA's turn at The Running Company-Yarraville. Get down from 6pm for a look (and a try) at a few different shoes in their range, plus loads of giveaways up for grabs.

[WEATHER UPDATE PENDING — will drop this in once this week's forecast is through]

Back at it as usual this week — Tuesday Yarraville, Wednesday Altona, Thursday Point Cook, 6:15pm meet, 6:30pm off. Refuel afterwards at Village Cantina (YVL), Pier 71 Bar e Cucina (ALT) or Old Pal Korean Kitchen (PC) — HHRC menu's waiting.

Big week on the cards:
🃏 Brand new Magic: The Gathering set Reality Fracture lands with a Draft night at Yarraville Wednesday — Jace is trying to hold the multiverse together and honestly, big mood.
🥙 Back of House rolls into Altona Friday with Kebabman on the truck — HSP and kebab magic, come hungry.
🏆 It's the final round of the Hopheads GP this week and it is tight at the top. Winner takes the title. Come watch it get decided.
🎴 Standard Commander nights as always — Tuesday Altona, Thursday Yarraville.

Oh, and with the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival only a fortnight out — good luck to anyone tapering, and good luck to the rest of us pretending we're tapering too.

🏁 𝐆𝐏 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄! 🏎🏎

𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁, and the Hopheads GP championship is about as close as it's possible to get.

Linda leads on 210 points — but Speed Wader and Tree_ are tied for 2nd, one point back, on 209 apiece. One point covers three people at the top of the table with a single week to go. This is winner-take-all territory.

Come down and watch it get decided, or get on the grid and make it interesting yourself.

⏱️ 𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐄 𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 — 𝐓𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐀𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐄𝐃𝐖𝐀𝐘 🦁
This week's Pole Position track is 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘄𝗮𝘆, and the cutoff for the lucky-draw second pint is 2:20.000 — beat that and you're in the draw for a free pint on top of the champion's pint.

This week's time trial runs until Friday, 2 October.

Get your time in at gp.hopheads.com.au 🏁

Final week. See you on the grid.

PS. If you're in Point Cook today, we've got Live Music with Sundays at SoHo happening in SoHo Village from 2PM. Come down and get comfortable, or set a fast lap!

26/09/2026

Hopheads Un-Board Game Club returns at Altona next Saturday 3 October — and this time we've got a little something extra to share. 🎲🍺

Come in from 2pm for another session of tabletop fun — board games, trading card games, casual catch ups, all welcome. Wade will be on hand to teach and play.

But the big news — we're softly launching our Hopheads Tabletop Community site. Head to tabletop.hopheads.com.au, register your interest for Saturday's session, have a poke around and let us know what you think. We want to build a proper community hub for tabletop and trading card gamers across all three venues — and this is just the start.

Jump into the Hopheads Discord to stay across upcoming tournaments and events as they come up.

See you Saturday. 🍺

🎖️ 𝐖𝐀𝐖𝐃𝐖 — 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐕𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐍

Kai's back in the WAWDW chair after a bit of time away, and he's picked a b**r that knows exactly what it is — Seeker Brewing 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻, a 6.8% single-hop DDH IPA built entirely around late-harvest Nelson Sauvin.

One hop, done properly. Whirlpool additions bring juicy passionfruit and mango, and a late double dry hop stacks on complex tropical citrus character. Nelson Sauvin needs no introduction in this scene, and Seeker have let it do all the talking here — no distractions, no gimmicks.

👨💬 Kai's take:
"𝘚𝘮𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘫𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘺 𝘶𝘱 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘵, 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘺, 𝘱𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭-𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘧𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦. 𝘋𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘳𝘺-𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦. Four weeks down, two to go — and the top of the Hopheads GP is about as tight as it gets.

Nicktendo's clinging to top spot on 160 points, but Speed Wader is right on their bumper with 159 — one point back. One. Point. Tree_ is still very much in it too on 152, and with two rounds of racing left, this thing is nowhere near decided.

Week 5 is where it gets serious. Come watch it shake out, or better yet, get on the grid yourself.

⏱️ POLE POSITION — this week's track
While the GP's heating up, Pole Position rolls on too. This week's track is Animal Crossing, and the cutoff for the lucky-draw second pint is 2:10.000 — beat that and you're in the draw for a free pint on top of the champion's pint.

Thanks for Rocking Up. See You Again This Week.

More great turnouts for run club last week, and a big thank you to everyone who came out for the ON wear test — always love seeing the crew try new gear.

This week's looking kind on the weather front — Tuesday and Wednesday are both dry, mild and calm at run time. Thursday's a different story, a proper warm one building through the day, so Point Cook runners might want to go easy and hydrate well.

All 6:15pm, run at 6:30. Hawkers tinnie at the finish, Runner's Refuel with Village Cantina, Pier 71 Bar e Cucina and Old Pal Korean Kitchen after.

A quick heads up — we're closed Friday for the Grand Final public holiday, but there's still heaps on. Wordplay with Marnie Mills is on Wednesday at Yarraville. Back of House returns Thursday (not the usual Friday this week) with smash burger sensation Forever Burger popping up from 5pm — don't miss it. Casual Commander is on Thursday at both Altona and Yarraville too. Drafting Marvel Superheroes at Altona on Wednesday as well. Short week, lots on!

And of course, Grand Final footy at all three stores this Saturday, kick off 2:30pm. Possible live tunes across the weekend too — stay tuned.

🍹 𝐖𝐀𝐖𝐃𝐖 — 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐋𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐃𝐄𝐂𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒, 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐑

Sam's back in the WAWDW chair and he's picked a proper limited release — BoJaK Brewing's 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, a 6.7% IPA that's already building a reputation as one to grab quickly before it disappears.

Bojak have leaned into big, juicy hop character here without pushing the ABV into "sip slowly" territory — the kind of b**r that goes down far too easily for its strength.

👨💬 Sam's take:
"Bojak's Mindless Decisions is a proper tropical juice bomb. Mosaic and Motueka hops bring mango and passionfruit up front, and a zesty lime-and-mint kick keeps it from getting too sweet. It's soft, juicy, and barely bitter, and it drinks way lighter than 6.7%, so the name is basically a warning label. Perfect for a sunny arvo."

Limited release — don't overthink it, just grab one.
