Dennis Scammell was honoured to lay a wreath at the 3CAV Memorial at Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital Memorial Garden this morning on behalf of the Greensborough RSL Sub-Branch Committee, Members, Management and Staff
The service was dedicated to Vietnam Veterans' Day (tomorrow) 18th August 2026
This year marks the 60th year commemoration of the Battle of Long Tan
Dennis' story was featured recently on our page and website acknowledging his involvement with the historic battle, when he drove his APC into the rubber plantation at Long Tan on that fateful day

The official opening of the Greensborough War Memorial held on Friday 31 July was a proud and memorable occasion for our community.
We were honoured to hear from Alison Champion (Mayor, Banyule City Council), Mark Di Pasquale (Councillor, Bakewell Ward), Hon. Colin Brooks MP (Member for Bundoora) and Dal Crocker (President, Greensborough RSL), who each spoke about the significance of this important memorial.
A sincere thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so special. Your support reflects the strong community spirit that ensures the service and sacrifice of our veterans will continue to be remembered for generations to come.

Join us for the Official Opening of the Greensborough War Memorial as we come together to honour the service and sacrifice of our veterans and officially unveil this important community landmark - Everyone is welcome.
Date: Friday 31 July
Time: 1:00pm – 1.30pm
Location: Greensborough War Memorial Park
Description: Plaque unveiling and ribbon-cutting event.
Special guests: Colin Brooks MP, Greensborough RSL Sub-branch President Dal Crocker will also be in attendance.
Special instructions: Meet at the war memorial on the western side of the park. Ample parking throughout the area but best access to the war memorial is from the car park off McDowell St.
