Some years ago, unable to bare the injustice and inequality around me , I decided to start a restaurant that would provide food and opportunities for everyone, indiscriminately.
I feel that we have done ok.
We have given strong proof that kindness, trust and plain decency is capable of building trust amongst humans.
Now , I’m sad to say that lentil as anything will close on the 27 th of this month.
Circumstances we face have made it impossible for us to go on.
Thank you for giving us the privilege to serve you.
Thank you to everyone who supported an idea that asked you to not be constrained by the theories of the mind but to activate with the openness of your hearts.
There’s much to celebrate and be grateful for.

Melbourne Lentils needs your help – support Lentil As Anything to allow us to support the community.

Like so many of us, Lentil As Anything in Melbourne has been hit hard by events of the last two years. In spite of that, through the pandemic we provided food relief and meals to vulnerable individuals and families. As well as our pay-as-you-feel restaurants, our food rescue and food relief programs have provided material and emotional sustenance for the community. Lentil has traditionally supported asylum seekers, homeless individuals, and many of the most vulnerable within our community. In addition, Lentil has been a home away from home for people stranded in Australia, far away from their loved ones, while the pandemic rages.

We reached out with a fundraiser in October 2020, and your response was overwhelming. Your generosity allowed us to stay open and vibrant, and provide essential support during the worst of the lockdowns. We are reaching out again, so that we can do what we do so well, and be part of the 2022 recovery story for Melbourne.

We are also asking all regulars who enjoy takeaways with lentil to bring their own containers and Tupperware, this will again reduce the amount of containers we use!

This is a photo from not too long ago back in November 2019 before all the madness!

It doesn’t have to be a distant memory, you don’t have to be scared, we never left.
If you are feeling anxious or unsure, that’s ok to feel those things, we can make you feel safe and confident again about going out and enjoying the summer.

Sad news, on Thursday we had an amazing volunteer that has tested positive for Covid-19 during the weekend, so we all are getting tested and following the right procedures to come back to you as soon as we are clear.

If you came on Thursday (11th Nov) please go and get tested and isolate until you get your results.
