A new menu means a new pair of styles for our Lamb Two Ways!

This time we have one style is 17-hour green chilli & coconut braised lamb shoulder and the second is pulled & pressed BBQ coffee oyster steak cut (crumbed & fried).

Together they're served with Jerusalem artichoke puree, sauteed broccolini tips & peas, roti bread, with the option of having Andy’s BBQ blister sauce on side.

Today is International Donut Day! To celebrate, we have two of our new dishes to show you, one savory and one sweet.

Our savory donuts are the Smoked Jalapeno & Neuchatel Donuts, served with avocado puree, saffron lemon aioli, topped off with flowers & tendrils

And the sweet donuts are the Tiramisu Donuts, filled with Malibu mascarpone, then rolled in dehydrated coffee sugar served with espresso & Kahlua ice cream, Mr. Black coffee liqueur reduction, vanilla anglaise, and aerated cream.

Winter is here, and with it comes a new menu at Casalinga!

With new items in every section of the menu, if you've been thinking about coming in to eat with us, whether its your first time or your hundredth time, there will be something new for you to eat!

The first of our new items we're showing off is the Vanilla Coconut & Macadamia Milk Panna Cotta, served with yuzu & pineapple liqueur sorbet, toasted coconut meringue rubble, mango puree, kaffir lime & lemongrass gel, and a Malibu reduction.

We have another beautiful cake that came out of our kitchen last night, for a family celebrating a 70th birthday! Combining orange and chocolate for an incredible Jaffa-like flavour!

Another cake from Andy today, this is a Profiterole Tower, each profiterole is filled with a Vanilla 43 Licor Patissere, and covered with a rum and dark chocolate drip, after that tower is topped off with honeycomb and raspberries!

This is our Vegetarian Plate, an assortment of beautiful flavours and textures. This dish includes six distinct items with a wide range of flavors. First a tart of truffled cauliflower and leek, second, a caprese salad, third is a couscous with spiced carrot, gold raisin, smoked almond, and creme fraiche aioli, fourth is Five spice white sweet potato curly fries and purple cabbage puree, the fifth item is a tempura vegetable bao bun with chilli jam, and the sixth and final item is deep-fried sushi rice with avocado and black vinegar caramel.

With all these different flavours, you might even forget that it doesnt have any meat in it!

We're back from our break with a new Crispy Skin Barramundi special, this time we're serving it with a gold bean & kipfler potato Nicoise-style salad, on a mandarin velouté, finished off with flowers & tendrils.

An incredible looking dish, that tastes just as good as it looks, if not better!

We've shown off a lot of Andy's cakes over the years, but never really shown how well they get presented after they're cut. So this time we have a before and after of this beautiful cake!

This cake was a Profiterole base filled with chocolate mousse, profiterole donuts filled with lemon curd patissere, topped with white chocolate, honeycomb, and raspberry dust.

As a reminder, we will be closed from tomorrow (the 3rd of April) till the 13th of April. See our previous post for more details.

We would like to let everyone know that Casalinga will be closed over the Easter weekend, as well as the week following, to give our staff an extended Easter break.

We will be closed from the 3rd of April and reopen on the 14th of April for Tuesday night dinner service as normal.

We apologise for any inconvenience this causes, and we look forward to seeing everyone when we return.

On Sunday last week, Andy made yet another beautiful cake for a family celebrating a 70th birthday!

This one was a gluten free chocolate sponge, layered with raspberry vanilla jam, vanilla bean patissere, and chocolate mousse, covered in a lemon scented cream, then topped off with dehydrated raspberry powder and macarons.

The family absolutely loved it!

With all the fuel prices the way they are at the moment, why drive all the way in to the city when you could save some fuel and come to Casalinga instead?

This is our Chicken Saltimbocca Shanks, three beautiful chicken shanks wrapped in prosciutto & sage, served with double chicken stock, wine & butter sauce, fried paprika dusted pomme Parisienne, a salad of cucumber, mint, pomegranate, red onion, tomato, and feta, then dusted with sumac to finish it off.

This past Sunday, we had some lovely folks come in to celebrate an 80th birthday. For the occasion, they asked Andy to make a cake for them, and this is what he made, a Passionfruit & Citrus Opera Cake with almond meal dacquoise, dark chocolate cointreau mirror glaze, and passionfruit white chocolate butter cream.

On our current menu, we have a dish we call "Lamb Two Ways". The first style of lamb is a green chilli, cumin & coriander braised oyster steak, which is crumbed and fried. The second style is BBQ coffee koftas. Served (optionally) with Andys BBQ blister sauce on side as well as some spiced carrot, gold raisin and smoked almond couscous, and creme fraiche aioli.

For public transport, you can take either the train or bus to Croydon Station. From there, it's a 10-minute walk to the restaurant. Alternatively, if driving, take Maroondah Highway and turn into the street where the restaurant is located. Parking is available on-site or on nearby streets.
