Beer battered Corner Inlet flathead tails & chips.

One of my earliest food memories as a kid is sitting in a small restaurant on the wharf at Lakes Entrance eating fresh flathead tails and chips. These prehistoric looking lizard fish with venomous spikes are, in our humble opinion, the ultimate battered fish.

The almost sweet, flaky flesh when partnered with a good crunchy batter and homemade tartare sauce is the definition of happiness on a plate.

For the adult only upgrade you can wash it down with a cold pint of Pilsner on a sunny autumn afternoon sitting under the falling elm leaves of Royal Parade. Heaven.

Bycatch Crudo 🐟

Bycatch - the unintentional catch of commercial fishing, and one of the moral dilemmas associated with eating fish. We work with to pick up what’s fresh and available from Kensington fish market. Small quantities and diverse species.

Thinly sliced and served raw with green olive and preserved lemon for a savoury briny edge. A chilli and mandarin dressing rounds it out with a pop of citrus and gentle hint of heat.

We’re taking a short break over Easter… giving us just enough time to make a dent in the dish pile 😜

We’ll be closed from Friday 3rd to Monday 6th April.

We’ll be back pouring beers and firing the kitchen up again on Tuesday 7th April.

Wishing you all a safe and happy Easter 💚🍻

Back in the 90’s, this place was a little louder, a little looser, and probably a fair bit stickier. These days it’s safer to eat the food, we’re still pouring Carlton, backing the Blues, and flying a few proud mullets behind the bar 🤟🏻 🍻 💚

The team at Naughtons Hotel takes pride in sourcing their ingredients from local farms practicing regenerative methods. One such farm is Westerly Downs, which supplies the pub with pastured duck and quail.
