Standing since 1853, Mac’s Hotel, now Captain Melville, has witnessed more than 170 years of Melbourne history.

Built during the gold rush, these bluestone walls have seen Melbourne grow from a bustling colonial town into the city we know today, making Mac’s one of the oldest surviving hotels in the CBD.

Along the way, the hotel has collected its fair share of stories. Local legend has it that Ned Kelly was once held beneath the building, adding another layer of intrigue to a place already steeped in history.
