Each year on ANZAC Day, we open our doors from 9am, as a warm and respectful gathering place for ex-servicemen and women, their families, and the wider community.
The day holds deep meaning here at The Rising Sun Hotel. Our name and our emblem share a close connection to this day - and to our location, just moments from the Shrine of Remembrance.
We’ll also have the AFL ANZAC Day showdown, Essendon vs. Collingwood, live on the big screens. A great tradition that feels right at home on a day that brings people together.
Whether you’re attending the Shrine, watching the footy, or simply looking for somewhere meaningful to mark the day with family and friends, The Rising Sun Hotel is here for you.
Lest we forget. 🌿

See you Saturday

That’s a wrap on Season 2025 for the Sydney Swans! 🦢❤️

It’s been a year of brilliant footy, decimating injuries, cracking wins, a few disappointing losses, and plenty of “reach for the defibrillator” moments that kept us on the edge of our seats.

On behalf of all the Sydney Swans supporters who’ve called The Rising Sun their home this season - whether you joined us once or week after week - a BIG THANK YOU to John, Annalise, and the entire Rising Sun crew. Your incredible hospitality, scrumptious meals, thirst-quenching drinks, and welcoming space have made this pub the heart of the Swans family in Melbourne and Victoria (with a few brave “other team” supporters along the way).

Special shout-outs to:

🎙️ True Bloods – the most entertaining Swans podcast going around. Always a treat to have you and your mates in the house.

👏 Sisters of the South – for building a passionate community of women who live and breathe the red and white.

🙌 Matt Donnelly – who fields every question from “Who’s the sub?” to “Where are my tickets?” without missing a beat.

❤️ Ernie, Martin, Chris, Veronica, and Jeff “Torch” McGee from the Past Players Association – who tirelessly raise funds, raffle off awesome Swans merch, and keep us connected to the legends of our club.

Looking ahead, 2026 is shaping up to be our best year yet. Time for the boys to rest, recharge, get fitter, faster, stronger - and come back firing in the pre-season.

And don’t forget, the Sydney Swans AFLW side are two-from-two to start their season, so there’s still plenty of red-and-white footy to get behind.

Until the 2026 fixture drops in November, thank you all once again—and let’s keep on Cheer, Cheer the Red and the White! 🔴⚪🦢
