Not sure how this level of camera exuberance has been achieved but I can only imagine that it is because is a photographer with exceptional Bring Out The Glow In Everyone skills.

….but also kind enough to let me post this shot.

Also of course I’m joking: love these girls and the energy they bring to all day every day. The apron thing - well that’s for another day.

Have you ever parented a child and realised that, over time, the not-great things that happen to them are actually the best foundations for the next bits?

Well this is just like that.
Only for adults doing business.
Because who is musing on life lessons when there are fires to quell, names to take and new plans to wedge into the 5 year plans?

Me.
Hi.
It’s me.

Are we Patagonia yet?
Ha! We (really do) wish.

Yves Chouniard was one of the first employers to understand that childcare at a head office = settled, focused, productive female staff.

That people are not just working for the money, they’re working for purpose. For satisfaction. For growth.

That staff supported by their employer to chase their side hustles and side activism were the best staff.

Let My People Go Surfing is the guidebook.

When we came back to work for proper in January, I told Sarah (our buyer, my truth-teller) that I’d come up with a radical new idea for how to grow the business this year.

I also told her she’d hate it.
We’re fun like that.

Thing is: we had to close our second store after just a year’s trade. And that cost. A lot.

Bricks and mortar in general is in a weird phase. Don’t get us wrong: we’re fiercely in brick & mortar’s corner (hence this post). But it’s not getting easier. Nor less demanding. Or slower.

And without the funds we had to start that second location, we were always going to be forced to make some either hard or outlandish decisions.

Sarah is not fond of me spilling the Luup secrets to any female business owner who wants advice. But that’s actually one of the things I love the most.

So we’re going to compromise.
I’m going to spill our secrets.
And she’s going to hate that idea but go along anyway.

Disagreeing is always (in hindsight) the good part.

Love hating the timing of the Easter School Holidays Anzac Day is so 2025.

Christmas levels of WhAt DaY iS It abound.

And the Endless Summer: we’ll take it.

We’re open truncated hours (except for Saturday when we just know you’ll be gagging for both coffee and an excuse to venture out into the world so normal hours prevail).

Closed tomorrow.

We’re all over the shop too but at least we’re all in it together and there’s chocolate.

Instagram offered up musical backgrounds and I hated every single one of them which could be the effects of Tuesday. Could be general fatigue. Could be Now That Mothers Day Has Passed What Are We Anticipating to which we answer THIS.

It’s a sale of Luuptical proportions. We’ll be pulling it all out. At times it will feel chaotic. Mostly it’s clothing clothing clothing from all of your favourite brands. But there’s a smattering of other Luup goodness and so we say skip the need for background music and see you there.

Happy Mothers Day to all who celebrate and this is how we’re celebrating this year.

Sale is on next Saturday. We’ve never done one before but we’ve had a full-on year of opening a new store and not knowing what we needed to order as well as finding some stuff in the archives and baddabing baddaboom here we (almost) are with A Sale.

It’s at The Nook in Progress St, Mornington and we will see you there.

Hope your croissants are toasty and Nobody But Nobody has any household questions for you today. Both stores open for beyond last minute but still absolutely perfect gifts and eats x

Can you believe it I have more thoughts.

First up: sorry not sorry but we’re closed Friday. Did somebody say “perfect communal opportunity for everyone to exhale sit on a beach curl up in the shade with a book purge 2023 debris for a fresher 2024”? No? Well we’re saying it and we’re saying it as we enjoy some fabulous Tools Down downtime.

Another thought: hormones.
Do you have them yes you do.
Do they affect your day to day month to month life season happenings? You betcha.

Luup master naturopath nutritionist reminds us of this frequently as she helps us to wrestle not only The Team Luup hormones but also our sleep patterns anxiety eating predilections. And yes you should see her if you can nab a spot.

But here’s one for the peri/full meno women…the retreat of one’s ‘caring’ hormones at a certain (*cough* our) age: is this simply the unwelcome introduction of agitation x rage bursts? Or is this the revelatory peeling back of the glow that urges us to do All Of The Things All Of The Time All At Once? And to keep doing it. Incessantly. Always.

Here’s my current discussion point (always takes a small trot around the garden to just Get To The Point). And it’s for anyone considering diverting some tasks to the other able bodies in our immediate vicinity; hello there partners, children, hangers-on in all forms. We see you.

Maybe these hormones are here to change some things for the better. Embrace the inner rage. Rage on, even. And have a Delegate The Tasks To The Others long weekend.

We know you’re worth it.

In honour of summer being here and feeling like Bali for at least another 5 hours (we’ll take what we can get), we present to you two things:

1) traffic jams on Peninsula link; and
2) contour swimwear.

Both available in proximity to our Mornington store. Both designed to hold back and pervert the usual course of things.

On the downside, no you may not count on a 10 minute drive to your favourite beach, nor any understanding of The Way We Usually Park once you get there.

On the upside, once you hit the sands in these swimsuits, you will feel similarly and simultaneously held in. Gripped by a sense of closeness. And surrounded by materials full of both joy and constraint.

The blurb says ‘luxe compression lycra; multi functioning Swimwear + Activewear + Shapewear collection designed to liberate YOUR body in sexy, athletic cuts that are both flattering and functional.’

Frankly, we can take or leave the sexy. But you know how we love an f-word.

Angst is so 2023. Embracing joyous constrainment via traffic acceptance and luxe compression Lycra: hello 2024.
