This National Volunteer Week, we’re proud to join the Australian Sports Commission in giving 3 Cheers to our Volunteers who keep Gardiners Run Golf Course and Chirnside Park Country Club running!
Today we highlight Dave Pearson. Dave is responsible for recruiting a team of enthusiastic volunteer members, many of which have put their hand up for working bees previously conducted on an occasional basis, to meet weekly on a Monday to complete a variety of jobs including turf laying, trimming of native grasses, mulching, sprinkler head cleaning and clearing of fallen debris which not only helps keep the course and surrounds looking great, but importantly promotes a sense of camaraderie, belonging and pride amongst the Club.

Mick Guinane and Hector Cruickshank are Club stalwarts! Together they meet for a coffee and bite to eat in the clubhouse before grabbing some tools and heading on to the course to keep the playing surfaces w**d free and pristine. More often than not, Mick will then trade in the gardening tools for the junior golf clubs and witches hats as he assists the Junior Cadet Golf Clinics as a Community coach! Mick and Hector’s contribution was recognised in 2022 when they were jointly named Club Person of the Year.
