On May 24th 2023 the absolute legend Tina Turner passed away. Here is a throwback video of our Chef Damian doing the Nutbush on the day she died. Customers got up to join in and he said to me a few days later his legs were still sore! 😂❤️🕺

On Monday I spent the afternoon dancing in my little flat. Here I am still dancing in my cafe. Dancing grounds me, it connects me to the earth and it lights a fire in me and that makes me feel powerful and protected.

Let me reintroduce myself. I run R&R Cafe with my husband Damian. My name is Trina Woolhouse and I am a psychiatric survivor. Many years ago I was locked in cells, put in a straight jacket, shackled to a hospital bed, stripped of my clothes, held down and injected medication and verbally abused and ridiculed by staff of psychiatric hospitals here in Melbourne. For what?Throughout all of these episodes I never felt fear. I looked for kindness in people’s eyes and I saw it in some. Some beautiful souls helped me and over time I became stronger, so much stronger. I have spent decades taking medication so I could have custody of my two beautiful children. Be the good girl. I was trapped in a fear based system. This medication dulled my light, my immense creativity and to a degree my joy. I am now free of all toxins in my body. A new era for me is beginning and although there is so much pain and chaos in the world, I love this planet. I love the forests, the flowers, the rivers, the beaches and the deserts. I love it all and have so much hope for it.
R&R Cafe is my ministry, my haven, my sanctuary. It is also my salvation.

In the mornings I dress to impress my regular customers!! I knew Gertrude comes in on a Wednesday with her sons. She always comments on my jewellery pieces. I was only thinking of her when I put my outfit together today. She is such a treasured customer of mine. 💖✨💖

2025 was a huge year for us. It started with our cafe being hidden by scaffolding and surrounded by builders for 5 months 😩🤬My Dad has also been seriously unwell 🥺😢Damian and I got tattooed and more committed than ever. At the beginning of the year we sadly said goodbye to and . However we ended the year strong. Thanks for all your continued support and a big thank you to all our brilliant staff who gave their all this year particularly during the last month. 🙏🫶 ❤️ #2025

A selection of recent selfies. I remember when I got an iPhone, the first thing I asked my teenage daughter was how do I take a selfie!! She laughed so much. Selfies are a self love story. A modern self portrait and an Australian invented word!
