Fresh firewood feels. This stuff is dry, ready to burn and weighed each and every load so you get what you paid for. No games, no sneaky loose stacked airspace. Just fair value for a high quality product delivered by locals. Check out the General Store at www.ubgeneralstore.com.au

Have you met Chug yet? π
You may have noticed a new orange face out the front of the General Store.
Meet Chug β our 1948 Allis-Chalmers Model B tractor.
Chug is here to help us tell a little more of the story of Upper Beaconsfield, the hills around us and the General Storeβs place in it over 140 years.
When the General Store first opened back in 1885, this area was a pioneering community at the gateway to the Dandenong Ranges β home to farmers, orchardists, growers and families working the land or finding their own piece of paradise.
By the 1950s, tractors like Chug were becoming part of small-farm life, helping replace horse power with practical machinery that could cultivate, plough and harvest on smaller properties.
Did you know the current site of the General Store was a horse and cart depot until it closed due to the rapid explosion of Motor Vehicles? We're still finding horse shoes in the ground to this day!
While Chug may be new to us, he feels right at home here in the hills. He's moved here from a farm in Gippsland.
We do like to think we're the gateway between the Dandenongs and Gippsland! π
Next time youβre passing, give Chug a wave. π

Introducing Chug! π Our newest little landmark has arrived at the General Store.
Chug is here to help us tell the story of where we came from β a pioneering farming community at the gateway to the Dandenong Ranges. π
Back in 1885, when the General Store first opened, Upper Beaconsfield was home to farmers, orchardists, growers and families building a life in the hills.
More than 140 years later, weβre still proud to be part of that story β Supplying the Hills since 1885.
Next time youβre passing by, give Chug a wave! π

Today is our son Jed's last day working at the General Store! He's off to commence an IT career with the Army. The team made sure he scrubbed the decks one last time before leaving π§Ή
Jed has always been a can-do kid, holding down Saturdays, jumping between the Barnyard and Cafe, functions, festivals and offsite events. Everything you would hope for as a family member working in a family business.
But his new career is calling, and Steph's a little sad to see her baby all grown up. Good luck Jed πͺ Thanks for your contributions to the business over the past 6+ years π«‘

Well this is awkward π 6 years of Ash, with, ah, no Ash π
Ash racks up 6 years of service with us today, and she has been on a well earned break the last couple of months, trotting the globe. She'll be back in a few weeks and we're looking forward to her getting back in to the General Store. We're not even sure when Ash really took a holiday until this year, so it's a well earned break.
Ash and Stace were our first new hires into the General Store, helping us establish our Barista game. Ash has been our Head Barista since launch, helping perfect and open multiple locations. Her experience and leadership helped our family immensely as we tiptoed, and then ran, into the world of hospitality.
Ash has been incredibly bendy with our business, after a slap of her forehead on the next crazy idea she would always jump in and get it done with us. She's established herself as a very competent retail manager and leader here in the General Store.
We hope you're enjoying Europe Ash, and look forward to having you back in the team. Happy anniversary!
