Some cafes just feel like they’ve always been part of the neighbourhood and ELATTE CAFE ☕ is exactly that.
Tucked away in Padstow Heights, Elatte has been serving the local community since 2011. Set in a charming old suburban house, with a leafy courtyard out the back, it’s the kind of spot you can settle into for a long breakfast, a catch up with friends or simply a really good coffee.

Our deep love affair with Kenyan coffee began almost 15 years ago and was the very first stop of our inaugural African origin trip.
Since then, we’ve been visiting, cupping and buying from the Thirikwa Farmers Co-operative Society.
Each year Gakuyuini reaches new heights and 2026 is no exception ☕️✨

On Friday 7 August, we’re proud to be supporting streetsmartaustralia CaféSmart at Campos Newtown and Campos South Yarra, with $1 from every coffee sold donated to local organisations supporting people experiencing homelessness.

Our July Coffee of the Month comes from Ovidio Garcia Monterroso who has been growing coffee for 30 years.
La Nueva means ‘new beginnings’ and this espresso brings a smooth and complex profile with notes of golden raisins, stewed apple and apricot.

To get to the coffee shop on Elgin Street in Carlton by public transport, you can take the 96 tram towards East Brunswick and get off at the Elgin St/ Lygon St stop. Walk down Elgin Street for about 5 minutes until you reach the coffee shop.
If driving, head towards Carlton along Lygon Street and turn onto Elgin Street. There is limited on-street parking available on Elgin Street and surrounding streets, or there are paid parking lots nearby.
Alternatively, there is a bike-share station just around the corner from the coffee shop if you prefer to cycle.
