Australia is currently experiencing one of its warmest winters on record. Across the continent, records are being broken – and not in a good way. The culprit? The extraction and burning of fossil fuels.
Sydney has recorded its hottest June since records began. Melbourne and Adelaide have had their warmest ever start to winter. And alpine areas remained snowless for most of June, mirroring a concerning, long-term shift in declining snow depths.

Many Australians have heard of NAIDOC Week, but never taken part.
This week is a celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, communities and achievements.
It's also an invitation for all Australians to listen, learn and better understand the histories and cultures that have shaped this country for
more than 65,000 years.
From community gatherings and cultural performances to exhibitions, workshops and the National NAIDOC Awards, there are events
taking place across the country.

This Sunday, one of Australia's most important weeks begins.
From 5 -12 July, NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week recognises the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year, NAIDOC is celebrating 50 years of deadly. But it didn't begin as a celebration.
NAIDOC Week has its roots in Aboriginal people fighting for recognition, equality and justice. What started as protest has grown into a national week celebrating the world's oldest continuing cultures.

Ending fossil fuels is not about flipping a switch overnight.
It’s about having an actual roadmap. A fair transition that lowers climate pollution, scales up clean energy, supports workers and communities, and stops approving new coal, oil and gas projects along the way.
Australia has already signed onto global commitments to transition away from fossil fuels. Now it’s time to back that up with real action.
Because right now, First Nations communities and our Pacific neighbours are already living with the consequences of climate change.
