Ghanaian traditional meets Australian contemporary improvised music. Chale Wote connects the next generation of Australian improvising musicians with Ghanaian musicians based in Naarm/Melbourne. Raised in Naarm/Melbourne, Alby Rolfe is a drummer, composer and producer working between Melbourne and Boston, MA. In undertaking jazz studies, his work aims to balance the deep tradition with his individual voice.

Joined by inimitable artists Davin Ojala, Yemo Wang and brother Charlie Rolfe, he will be sharing a choice selection of original works that draw upon his experiences in Australia and abroad.

One recent event featured reggae star Nhatty Man all the way from Ethiopia, Australian jazz national treasure The Ted Vining Trio, dance and yiki-yiki (didj) from Kuku Nyunkal maestro Sean Ryan, and Black Jesus eXperience with friends N'Fa, Vida Sunshyne, Endalkachew Yenehun, Luis Poblete, 5 piece horn section. Plus DJs Chris Gill, Future Roots, and Cassawarrior all the way from Aotearoa just for this gig. It was an unforgettable night of music and culture that truly showcased the diversity of Melbourne's arts scene.

The Horn is also open for regular dining throughout the week. They are open Wednesday through Sunday from 5:30 pm until late. Reservations are recommended to ensure you get a table at this popular spot.
