Join us upstairs at Kent St for a special screening of YURLU | COUNTRY on Monday June 8 at 7pm.
Tickets are $16.50, with proceeds donated to the Cleanup Wittenoom campaign. LINK IN BIO

YURLU | COUNTRY is a powerful and deeply personal documentary following Banjima Elder Maitland Parker during the final year of his life, as he fights to protect his homelands and preserve his culture in the shadow of the Wittenoom asbestos disaster. Set across the striking landscapes of Western Australia’s Pilbara region, the film explores the ongoing impact of one of the largest contaminated sites in the Southern Hemisphere, a catastrophe that continues to affect both land and community generations later. As Maitland faces mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure, his determination to seek justice and healing for Country becomes even more urgent. Through intimate storytelling and breathtaking cinematography, YURLU | COUNTRY is both a moving portrait of resilience and a call to action for environmental restoration, cultural survival, and truth-telling.

Members of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities are respectfully advised that this film contains images and voices of deceased people.

Kent St acknowledge that we meet on the land of the Wurundjeri people and that sovereignty of the land of the Kulin Nation was never ceded. We also acknowledge the Banjima people and pay respect to their Elders, past and present, and acknowledge the pivotal role that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continue to play within the Australian community.

All the regular creatures were smashing about.

The stockings were ripped, and their lipstick was smeared.
Eight dollar bah humbug shots brought plenty of cheer.

No Mariah was played, it was electro post punk all night.

Abandon your family with us from 4pm, Zaftig from 9pm, and $8 bah humbug shots to keep you alive.

Happy holigays, ya filthy animals.
