OY! Your milk sounds angry? 🥛
Coffee Tip 4 with Hugues the Brewking ⚔️
According to him, it’s probably because you froth like a barbarian…
What you want… is a gentle whisper.
When steaming milk, listen carefully.
A soft “tsssss” is the sound of victory.
A screaming, screeching noise? That is the sound of your latte art dying before battle.
Stretch the milk gently.
Keep the tip just under the surface.
Silky microfoam is forged with patience, not violence.
Strong hand. Calm milk. Glorious coffee.
Where coffee is conquered, not made.

Some people chase the rush.
Slow down, order your favourite coffee, open the newspaper, and stay a little longer 🗞️
The simple things are often the best things ☕️

90 years young.
In a world that moves faster every day, there’s something special about sitting down, sharing a coffee, and having a conversation. Our eldest regular recently celebrated his 90th birthday, and if there’s one thing he reminds us, it’s that staying young has very little to do with age.
It’s about staying curious. Talking to people. Showing up. Being part of a community. Finding joy in the simple things and taking the time to appreciate them.
He’s been a familiar face at Gabriel Fitzroy Café, bringing warmth, wisdom, stories, and smiles through our doors. Every time he orders a takeaway coffee, he reaches for a few extra napkins and carefully wraps them around the cup, even though we always make sure it’s not too hot for him. It’s one of those small details that has become part of who he is, a familiar ritual we’ve come to smile about.
While he often thanks us for making his coffee, the truth is that we’re the ones who are grateful.
Thank you for reminding us what really matters. Thank you for your kindness, your sense of humor, your presence, and for being one of our own.
It’s more than just a cup of coffee 🤎
