Oh my .. we Venetians are so traditional at Easter that seafood becomes our go to. Today the hero is my brother who has sourced 40 kg of Robe lobster & the chefs’ hero dish is lobster ravioloni & spuma di zucca. Buona Pasqua a tutti .. quack‼️

Which one will make the cut?
Mezzelune of prawn, fish bisque, white asparagus cream, crunchy spears
or

New York!!
You gave me the quality family time l needed.
I explored, you delivered.
You were exhilarating as much as you were comforting.
Definitely won’t miss lining up for iconic places in freezing conditions but will miss the daily anticipation of new restaurants/bars/delis, insane music venues & vintage shopping!
Ciao for now!

So proud to be living in Australia with Italian DNA. Humbled to receive this award from . My career has been a labour of love and after it’s all said and done, it’s back to the daily grind of serving people, promoting my Italian roots and honouring everything that is hospitality. Wow! After a tumultuous period in our restaurant’s life we have survived to celebrate our 30th year and are humbled and grateful to receive Two Hats at last night’s ’s Good Food Guide Awards 2026. This year this award is especially meaningful. The biggest thank you to .
The biggest shout out goes to my team, past and present, who have made Caterina’s what it is, especially and who have helped me rebuild and retain our level.
A massive thanks to our customers and wider community that continue to return and of course our wonderful suppliers that keep us at the top of our game. Finally, big love to my family that mentally and emotionally kept me on the right track!
A restaurant is the sum of all of this .. after the accolades, it’s back to the daily grind which fuels our love for this industry.

What people say
Italian restaurants are known for their authentic produce, traditional recipes, and warm hospitality. Caterina's Cucina E Bar in Queen Street, Melbourne embodies all of these qualities and more. The restaurant was founded by Caterina herself, who was inspired by her travels to Italy and her love for antiques and history.
Entering the underground dining room through large Art Deco gates, guests are greeted by discreet wait staff who cater to a mainly corporate clientele as well as foodies. The lunch menu offers sophisticated yet traditional Italian dishes with a modern twist, prepared by Chef Marcello Mariani and his team who draw upon Northern, Central, and Southern Italian cuisine.
What sets Caterina's apart from other Italian restaurants is its ability to defy expectations. The classical dining room is adorned with Venetian masks and antique decor, creating an ambiance that transports guests to Italy. Whether you choose to indulge in a lengthy lunch or enjoy an espresso-style meal, the pure flavors and simplicity of the dishes will leave you satisfied.
Caterina's Cucina E Bar has been a Melbourne institution since its launch in 1995. It is a testament to the fact that good food, wine, and stories are at the heart of Italian hospitality. If you're looking for an authentic Italian dining experience in Melbourne that combines tradition with modernism, then look no further than Caterina's Cucina E Bar on Queen Street.
